What is it when we have nothing in this world? What are we?
For the longest time, that is what I was. An orphan, a cast away with nothing to hold true and nowhere to call home. And truly, we see that this is becoming the story for the majority of all young people in Western society, and perhaps all cultures, as we are torn away from all roots of any truth or goodness. Our societies have been infiltrated by the power of the evil one in ways both subtle and overt, in ways which we as ignorant children cannot even begin to fathom. The lie festers, and lives are being swallowed in blackness by forces which are at their very core spiritual wickedness.
But that is another topic, for another time.
I was lost. My parents divorced when I was about 10 years old, marking the ultimate manifestation of the disconnect that was my mind. This was not the cause, but merely a symptom, of the world of sin I had entered. At this time, the foundation for my reality as a child, the family unit, vanished, was divided and destroyed, and all other suggestions of normalcy in life became meaningless.
And what of all of this? I could go on into the iniquities, the injustices, the nightmares and the tragedies of this world. They all boil down to the same element. The reign of sin, of wickedness, the power of darkness.
And it had its complete work in me but there was something else.
In spite of all I saw and felt, there was something that came from above, from beyond, which I could feel. Something that existed before any of this had happened. Something that called out to me, as a memory, a powerful pulling force stronger than anything else in this world.
It was as a memory, of a place I had been and knew well, better than anything. A place that was my home, my real home. A place of perfect and unbroken joy, where there was nothing broken, nothing could be broken.
It was by this that I compared all other things in life. It was by this that I gauged my loss, and my need. This place was Truth. This place was Peace. This place was Purity. This place was Joy. This place was Perfect.
This place was a Person. But I did not see it this clearly, just yet.
So beyond, above and before all things in this world I had a memory which drove me, which pulled me, which compelled me to seek it above all other considerations. Nothing less would satisfy me, everything else was a constant disappointment. Where was this Love? Where was this Truth? I did not see it anywhere in the world.
What a strange land. What was I looking for?
A City built by the hand of God, not by man, not of this earth. The New Jerusalem, the Name of God, the New Name, the Lord Jesus Christ.
But I did not understand this just yet.
So, my life continued as one series of ill thing, after another I need not go into details, but I assure you these things were all quite serious and damaging. We have all been buffeted about by the prince of the power of the air. But when it came to what I would swear my allegiance to, what I would serve, what I would truly believe, I found that there was nothing that would fulfill my thirst. Where was absolute Truth, perfection and true, pure joy? I had many offers, but they all were imposters.
As a man searching desperately for his way home, as a dreamer seeking to wake from a dream, my road led ever on toward the Lord Jesus Christ. I had heard the name before, from the lips of religious men, but it did not mean anything to me. It is not the flesh that reveals the Identity of the Son of God to a man, but the Father Who is in heaven, by His Spirit.
In due time, I arrived at the appointed place and the Lord revealed Himself to me through the foolishness of preaching, and at that moment I heard the words of the Son of Man and believed on Him, that He was sent by the Father, and was saved.
I recognized Him as surely as a man would recognize the days of his youth, were they played before his eyes. He was The Memory. He was the Life I thirsted and yearned so desperately for, but which I despaired I would never find anywhere in this world. I had even begun to doubt the memory, the thirst, the object of the thirst, that perhaps it really, truly was nowhere to be found.
But He found me as certainly as He finds every one of His sheep. As a dreamer, I was woken to the Reality I so helplessly sought to recover, to wake to: Christ Jesus. In Him, everything in me was made complete.
And now, I continue in this world, in this dream. But I have seen the Reality. I have woken from the dream.
You who are of this world continue, not knowing, not seeing, not seeking. Dreaming, sleeping, dead.
You who are of the Truth have heard and come to the call of your Shepherd, or else you are crying out for Him even now.
Today is a day of great darkness, great deception and great evil. In absolute contrast to this, it is a day of great promise, of great Light, for our redemption draws near, and the mystery of God shall soon be fulfilled.
In this, I say to those of you who seek it, I am at your service in the Lord Jesus Christ. I have things to say, which may be of help. We all do. We must all strive to serve and follow the Lord where He is.
Great things are coming. Great things are in Him. Look to the Lord before whom you stand, before Whom nothing is hidden but all things are clear. We have seen the Lord for one reason only, and that is to testify of Him, that God is True, that Christ is Risen.
To speak it. To prove it.
In His Love.
