Improving the Bible is a worthy cause, as long as the effort is designed to faithfully give us what the Lord gave His Disciples. After KJV and then the Amplified Bible, I have come to love The Message as a way of grasping the content of the original ideas better.

CF has at least one scholar who says two versions are better; God's Word and something called Beck aka AAT (An American Translation)

The caution is of course the G-d is bigger than our language, and we aren't capable of "figuring Him out." Holy Scripture is one tool to help point us in the right direction.

Personally I rate the message "bible" as an abomination. There is no improving of The Word of God, we might slightly improve translations, the Message sadly is no such example of an improved translation. Seems rather corrupted to me really.

Following the Reformation, Protestants removed the Apocrypha (about 14 Old Testament books) from their formal canon. Maybe it's time for another Reformation, where Christians remove everything from The Bible that is contrary to the Two Commandments of Love God and love your neighbor as yourself.

It seems that if Christians, or at least some Christians, formally removed the Old Testament and Revelation from their holy book, it would be a huge step forward, morally, ethically, and spiritually.

Even better, what if The Bible became just the gospels? "All Jesus, All the Time."

Thanks,
Jim

Or, here's a thought: Maybe it's time for Protestants and the numerous others who came after to go back to what they gave up (or never realized existed in the first place). The Church existed before the New Testament. The Tradition of the Church tells us what the scriptures mean. Outside of the proper context, they're often wrong in their interpretations of the scriptures anyway.

A huge step forward would be to accept the Truth instead of attempting to make your own truth. People need to come to the Faith of the Apostles, the Faith of the Fathers, the Faith of the Orthodox- the Faith that established the universe.
