Do you know how much taxes the oil companies have already paid?
not enough? I'm not going to feel sorry for big oil regardless (who have post record earnings for record quarters), but if it will make you feel better for saying then please be my guest.

I don't support your idea at all, Mike. I drive a big truck which gets terrible gas mileage. I support folks going green because it will lower the cost of gas for me. If I can get enough folks to go green, then I plan upgrade to a V-10 :)

The last thing I want to see is more taxes on the consumer. Let's tax the profits from oil companies to pay for military arms...

I thought you bought a puny little 1/2 ton? You can't get the V-10 in that commuter truck.

I put 1.5 tons in the other day and it was just fine. I have a 300hp V-8 in my big bad truck :)

I saw an F-550 yesterday which has a V10. I was encouraged to increase my support for other people "going green."

here is another photo of my pretty truck :)

300 horsepower in a 5500lb vehicle? Pfft. My sub-400 pound vehicle makes 172 hp at the wheel.

That is a nice truck. If I didn't have muy commute I'd consider something very similar. I am a little bothered by the fact that the big three have kindof abandoned the work-truck buyer. These days if you want a manual transmision in a 4wd p/u with a bench seat, no headliner, rubber floor mat, etc - you have to buy a fleet vehicle.

nah, you can get that in a F250 easy, but why? there is no need for a manual transmission. Oh and rubber floor mats come standard with the off-road package :)

Their record profit is still just the same percentage that they used to make. It's only "record" because they have sold more than before. They are still making the same %.

The real problem is the economy and people like you wasting energy with your massive cars. On the plus side, I get to laugh at you all when you spend $100 to fill up.

good - because they don't deserve the money they are making since they aren't innovating. I think they should pay more.

The real problem is that we're in a religious war scaring up folks who set the price on oil. As for you laughing at me? I don't care, I love my truck and I can afford it. I don't know why that is funny - unless you laugh as a way to make yourself feel better about your own situation?

Nope. GSXR1000. In the trim she's in now she'll do 0-60 in 3sec flat, sub 10 second 1/4 mile ETs, 18x top speed.

...and 35 MPG. Makes quick work of the commute, lol.

Really? A few years back I tried to get a Dodge so-equipped and they wouldn't do it. Bastiges. I prefer manual transmisions because there's a small fuel savings, a small savings up front in purchase price, and I like to replace cluteches for some dumb reason. That's worth the reduced resale price and increased hassle in traffic, right?:sorry:

Cool bike. Every year I think about getting a road bike and every year I put it off. I know if I got one I would quit skating though, and I really like skating.
inline skating? I have some K2's, but I haven't used them in a few years... I love my road bike, but if you get one make sure you get the gay shorts with the padded butt. I tried avoid it first and learned that lesson :p

Yup - mine are K2s too. My pedal bike is a Giant Sedona - and it is an absolute piece of garbage. Worst purchase I ever made. I was thinking it could replace my old Fischer mtn bike and my old Schwinn road bike and be comfier than either. Instead of being a good compromise bike it sucks at everything. I broke the chain last spring and haven't bothered to get it fixed yet.

I haven't heard anything about Iran wanting to wipe out the Kurds. Do you recall where you heard that?
During 2007, tensions increased greatly between Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan due to its sanctuary given to the militant anti-Iranian group Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan(PEJAK). According to reports, Iran has been shelling PEJAK positions in Iraqi Kurdistan since August 16th. These tensions further increased with an alleged border incursion on August 23rd by Iranian troops who attacked several Kurdish villages killing an unknown number of civilians and militants.-wikipedia[/QUOTE]

Was it really a pointless war ?

Ask the civilian ethnic groups in Iraq who were spared from genocide.

Who? The Kurds were mostly autonomous by the time we invaded. Since we've invaded, we've seen massive amounts of religious and ethnic violence.

I stated I thought the invasion was a mistake- staying is not because if you think the violence is ugly now, wait and see what happens if we leave.
