An awakening

As a Christian, I’ve always hoped the Holy Spirit would stir an Awakening in America Obviously what is happening now isn't an actual Awakening. It's just the chickens coming home. For so long, I have felt such sadness and sympathy for the many Christians who have been dragged into this alliance born of hope for Trump's presidency to strengthen their concerns. I realize how attractive that was. So it is with mixed feelings I watch it collapse as I've known it always would.

Throughout the centuries there has always been a remnant who stay faithful and steadfast. Never to follow the doctrines of men but only His Spirit who dwells in them. As much as I am saddened by this reality, Jesus Christ of Nazareth said very few are in Him. We must always examine ourselves because more than we realize many are on the road the destruction.

Matthew 7:13-14
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."

2 Corinthians 13:5
"Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified."

Overall things could not continue like they have been for quite some time. So we can still hope that we will learn from this and look more to God not man.

Thank you so much for these well spoken observations. I had thought for so long that Christians would easily realize how they were being used. But, sadly, it is embarrassing how little we examine ourselves over the choices we make. I'm not pointing fingers. I, too, have often been foolish and slow to admit a bad choice.

Overall things could not continue like they have been for quite some time. So we can still hope that we will learn from this and look more to God not man.

I earnestly join you in that hope. So many of us have followed this downward path in a mistaken expectation that God would work through evil men. Consequently American Christianity has an even longer climb to regain their role as a shining light at the top of the hill.

I wouldn't dismiss the idea that there is an actual spiritual movement going on. I'm not talking about any political aspect here, but if people are finding Christ, that is a good thing. I bet most of us here on this forum have prayed for revival, so there may well be something at work. I'm sure you don't want to say that a revival can't take place simply because someone votes differently than you? Or at least I hope that's not what you're saying.

Absolutely not! Requiring someone to vote as I choose and denying them the right to decide for themselves?? Horrid. No, I am just commiserating with the Christians who were fooled into thinking that an evil man could somehow strengthen American Christianity if we just supported him and trusted God to work through him. I really am very sorry for how they were duped. But, yes, God certainly can initiate a revival in even the very depths of despair. And I pray every day that this will happen soon.
