An Artistic Talent Later In Life!

I was the most inartistic person in the universe until I hit 50 in 2000. I then discovered digital art. In three months I was having an exhibition of my work.

I can only work when the vibes are right and I connect with the work I am trying to create. I get a thrill every time I sell a picture, but true happiness if my work brings a bit of joy into someone's life.

How did you manage to get into this form of art though...?

Hi Crofter,

The explanation is quite remarkable. I was given an ink jet printer as a 50th birthday present by my children. It came with a freebie digital art package. Basically for those who don't know, you use your mouse to pick out the paints and you create your design on screen. there are also some special effects you can use. I was ready to give away this package as I thought I had no use for it, being inartistic. The kids persuaded me to give it a go, just to please them.

We live in a haunted house, the resident spook at that time was Brother Doli (Adolphus) the ghostly monk. When I started to create a picture it was just as if a presence was standing at my right shoulder and something was guiding my hand. Stuff would be appearing on the screen yet I swear I wasn't moving my hand. I am left handed and always used my left hand to guide the mouse, until I started my artwork and now use my right, obviously the one favoured by the monk, LOL!!!!! I don't have my 'dumbo's feather' anymore, presumably the monk thinks I am capable of creating my work without his help!!

I love that! It's just fantastic. My dad got into computers in a big way just before his death three years ago, and he was doing a lot of digital designs. But then he was always very artistic.

I find that creating my artwork helps me to connect with my soul in a way I have never done before.

I think this is so both in art and music... this is why for a person this is such a wonderful gift.

I am truly blessed and a very fortunate person to have a hobby I really enjoy.
