I learned today from someone within the Lockman Foundation that a revised updated edition of the Amplified Bible will be released in October. The New American Standard Bible will also be revised in 2016.

It seems most translations these days are being revised every few years. The AMP and NASB were last revised 1987 and 1995 respectively so that leaves only the NKJV of the modern translations which hasn't gone through a revision. Why would they need to be 'revised'? Any clues?

With the Amplified "Bible", I would say that there is little value with updating an extremley loose paraphrase. As for the NASB, the original (1971) edition made the mistake of keeping the old archaic KJV language for prayer etc. Even though the NASB was a popular and accurate version, this poor editorial descision along with its wooden reading style gave the soon to be released NIV (1978) a bit of an upper hand. Why would they need to be 'revised'? The Amplified update has now been announced on the Lockman Foundation Facebook page. I understand the NASB announcement is a few months away.
The NASB was updated in 1995 where they removed the silly KJV language but this was probably too late. As to the changes for the stated second update of the NASB it should be interesting to see what changes they make. Even though I use the NIV/1, I still prefer the NASB for its accuracy.
Since
a) the scriptures were originally written (primarily) in Hebrew and Greek and
b) the English language is one that is constantly evolving/changing and
c) there is no such thing as a perfect translation from one language to another
then any translation of the Bible would need to be updated occasionally to maintain it's understand-ability/relevance.
That's not to say that one should change the meaning. Rather, the meaning of certain words evolves over time... so, when a certain English word is used at one time... it may have a different meaning/connotation years later. A great example would be the word "blue"... which originally only meant a color, but over time can now can mean a mood or even "blues" can be a style of music .. not to mention that at one time "blue" also referred to magazines/movies that were "porn". So, when looking at the same word in the original language, sometimes it's necessary to update the English word used in the translation so that the translation still means the same thing.
FYI, here's an image of an "original" KJV Bible... you can see how different even the spellings of words were:

Did they say there were any so-called "gay christians" working on the project?
Some translations are going gay so they don't see their version banned causing them to lose money.
Simply, they need a new product to sell.
If they revise, then they can start a new marketing campaign to sell their new and improved version.
Yeah, the NIV = Nearly Inspired Version
Way too many errors in the NIV to be taken seriously.
It's as bad as the Living Bible!
The KJV is actually the most accurate when compared to the original Hebrew / Greek when compared to other translations.
Ultimately, for accuracy we should be digging in to the original Hebrew / Greek for ourselves.
As king James was reported to be a homosexual and where we have little knowledge about the character of the various translaters, then I wonder if the KJV could be renamed as the "Gaymans Bible".Did they say there were any so-called "gay christians" working on the project?
When we tend to see too many comments like these, I think that many people would wonder if a non-subscription forum has any worthwhile purpose. I'm of the opinion that KJO views should only be dealt within the "unorthodox theology" forum along with flat earth and square wheel advocates - it really does need to be stopped. In these modern last daze times, those involved in producing translations are being forced to either be gay friendly or face public shaming, lose of their job / company, loss of revenue, etc because satan is gay so he loves him some gay peoples and seeks to spread the gay message cause he knows God calls it an obamanation.
If you wish to choose to do what you desire, then so be it, by why do you slander the Christian academy along with those who have made the conscious decision that the old KJV is a book that now belongs to a less than enlightened church age. If you wish to keep to the KJV, that's your problem and not mine, but you need to avoid attacking those who disagree with your decision - don't you think that this is a reasonable request. What needs to be stopped is people like you that deprive others of the freedom to choose that you yourself enjoy. Jesus did say treat others like you'd like to be treated, so others have their right to choose just like you do.
I never advocated KJV only, I'm simply saying that it has proven to be one of the most accurate translations when compared to the original languages when considering the modern translations that are not faithful to the original texts.
So anyway, opinions are like certain parts of the anatomy... everyone has one right?
KJV is a book that now belongs to a less than enlightened church age
From my experience, at least from within the Australian context, is that over the years I have not failed to notice that our cults, along with those congregations that are overly bearing and where their prone to false doctrine, that the use of the KJV seems to go hand in hand with errant doctrine; maybe things are a bit different overseas.Yeah, today's "new age christianity" embraces all sorts of things God does not.
God said in the last daze there would be a lot of ear tickling and people would not endure sound doctrine... He was right!
So, those folks that got their cemetery degrees are taught what man thinks about God's Word, instead of being taught the Mind of Christ. So, good luck with all that...
