There are several authors like Beverly Lewis, Wanda Brunstetter, Cindy Woodsmall, etc. who write about the Amish. I have often wondered how accurate their stories are? Do they portray the Amish accurately?

A friend of mine likes Beverly Lewis and I'm only familliar with her. As far as Beverly is concerned, she romanticizes the Amish way of life. Something I keep warning my friend about. For the most part, Lewis' books are reasonably close to the Amish way of life. One must keep in mind though that they are reading Fiction, not historical fact. I have heard that Beverly Lewis comes from an Amish/Mennonite background and uses that as the basis of her books.
