  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Our capitalist system, this experiment we call America, is still young, yet it has been responsible for creating one of the strongest, wealthiest, most powerful countries ever known to man, and in record time. It has defeated Socialism and Communism with its allies. It is admittedly flawed, but it still stands as the best and most prosperous this world has ever seen.

The U.S. has never invaded and taken over foreign countries to create an empire; we’re content to stay within our borders. After destroying the constructs of collectivism, we have rendered financial assistance, and rebuilt their cities. We are not Imperialists by any definition. Just ask Europe or Japan.

Those among us who’ve escaped the horrors in their own countries, from the former Soviet Union, the Eastern bloc countries, Cuba, and Argentina, urge us to stop the march toward inevitable destruction. They see the signs. They can never forget how it started. And it is déjà vu for them, seeing their adopted country on similar footing.

We are all in agreement that reform is necessary. Our Republic has drifted further and further from the Constitutional blueprint the founders provided. While we have striven to improve ourselves, and have in many ways succeeded, we have also allowed our leaders to take control away from us, the people. The country was formed with a deliberately limited power structure at the top of the pyramid, leaving most tasks to the state and local levels. Government was to be nearest to the people, where they could have an impact on their own communities, where they could wield power

America is not formally a socialist country yet but all you have to do is look at who some of our so called leaders base their governance utopia on! People like Saul Alinski a Marxist! Well I say if Socialists try to govern this way they will see a very split America and no one wants this!!!!

Didn't we steal this country from the people who lived here before us? Which kind of disproves the whole:

Not to be persnickety, but it usually called Native Lives Matter. And if I may ask, which part of you is Chickasaw? ;)

In case, it is not obvious to you, I am teasing you.

Yes, as a matter of fact, the United States government did exactly that. This nation was originally founded on genocide, racism, white supremacy, land theft, broken treaties, forced Indian removals and death marches. No matter where you go in America, you are on stolen tribal lands that Indians were either forcibly removed from or murdered for. Welcome to the empire of America.

And the accusation of "Indians fought and had wars against each other!" attempt at justification in 3...2...1...

But if we go by their actions and words, Trump supporters are absolute socialists.

I keep hearing Trump supporters complain about there not being enough jobs, when there are so many jobs that people are forced to hire non-American workers to get the work done. If someone was willing to make a big enough wager to make it worthwhile, I would bet I could get a job in the USA within one week of crossing the border.

I keep hearing Trump supporters complaining about their wages. Capitalism pays what the market will bear. So going by their complaints, I'm guessing Trump supporter's wages are low, which is what Capitalism says they should be. Socialists think wages should be more than what the market will bear.

Everything I hear Trump supporters complain about are things that are part of a Capitalist economy. Nope, Trump supporters want socialism, and are so desperate for socialism they will support a man who is on audio tape bragging about peeping on underage teenage girls, who is on video tape bragging about sexually assaulting women, who has a long and well documented history of racist behaviour.

So anyone saying Trump supporters aren't Socialists is completely ignoring reality.

USA also attempted to invade Canada back in 1812.

Yeah, that was a silly but understandable mistake. This was before TV, so you Americans had never seen our National Hockey Team in action.

EDIT: If I'm not mistaken your national anthem is about the war of 1812, and how Canadians kicked you out of Canada. Is this correct?

Americans are not socialists
Speak for yourself.

Your article's examples of socialism are Cuba and the Soviet Union. Well, yeah, almost no Americans want to copy those countries. But there's more than one kind of socialism, and the reason many Americans say they like socialism is that they have a very different system in mind. 57% of Americans define socialism as "a large welfare state and significant government regulation, funded by progressive taxation," which describes most democracies, and most first world countries too (look at Denmark, where taxes are at 51% of income, or Germany, where they're at 36%). Only 17% of Americans say socialism is "a centrally planned economy governed by an oppressive one-party state" like in the Soviet Union. Most American socialists don't want to replace capitalism; they just want to make it more humane.

RE: "Americans are not socialists," according to the polls I could find, about 38% of Americans say they like socialism. That's not a majority, and it's lower than most other first world countries like Germany (63%) and the U.K. (53%), but it's a pretty large minority. There's some evidence that it's becoming a majority, if you look at how many people say they support socialism in each age group:

18-29: 60%
30-44: 42%
45-64: 33%
65+ 24%

There is also this omitted verse in the national anthem.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Except for Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Hawaii, countless Native American lands, and not to also mentioning peacefully annexing Texas, buying Florida, a good portion of the central U.S. in the Louisiana Purchase, and Alaska.

Yep. It's always going to be different the next time.

One does well to read the first paragraphs of the article: Forget the History of Socialism at your Peril | Madisons Constitution Protection Corp

Having studied socialism in its various configurations, I know how it works. It sounds great. It looks good on paper. It’s an interesting and tempting theory at an opportune time. So I understand why it’s rearing its ugly head again. But once you start down that road, it evolves. And all of those sweet sounding promises fall to the wayside, one by one.

The economics of Socialism may work in theory, but in practice, as history clearly shows, it is unsustainable. And it doesn’t take very long for things to go very badly. Soon someone stages a coup, the first regime is thrown out. Others take their place, but they bring weapons where the first group brought slogans and banners. These revolutionaries are angry and controlling, and instead of just jailing dissidents as did the first regime, the uncooperative are simply eliminated.

If some Americans have a real problem with socialism in America, then they should stay off all public highways, roads and bridges, stay out of public libraries and public schools, and forget the police, the fire department and the postal service.

Panama, killed the members of the party who polls said were going to win the election to keep the American's puppet government in office.
