  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am appalled that James is being sent home. What is going through the minds of Americans? Haley should have been gone last week, but instead she ends up in the top 3? She has to be browbeaten in order to sing well. This week was the third time the judges had to tell her she had to step it up after singing only ho-hum. I guess that's what you get with popularity contests instead of singing contests.

I agree. :(

What an amazing testimony for James, though, to have made it this far considering his situation. He will pop up with a record deal soon enough, I bet. I will be the first one to buy his first release, too. :)

James will go far, I mean, look how far Daughtry got and he got voted off the same week I think as James.

I really wish Haley wasn't in the final three :sorry: I wish it had been James, Lauren and Scotty. But! Scotty and Lauren are both awesome, Im hoping they are the final two and Lauren wins. But I won't be too heartbroken if Scotty wins :p

Edited to say: On Wednesday's show I was pleased to see Casey & Paul looking spiffy as ever. :D

Oh I have been watching it here in Dili though we get it later than all of you. Watched James get out. I was happy about that - not my cup of tea. I am in love with Scotty and Lauren. But I think I like their style of music more. Hayley should have gone. She is the one you can never predict if it is going to be good or bad. But I can't vote due to the delay.

Well first off, they're all just singing, like a regular competition. Also, I highly doubt most people would "idol" any of them, unless they're a kid/teen, or someone who just doesn't care or whatever.
It doesn't promote idolatry, while yes they do say "who's going to be your next american idol" they don't mean who are you going to worship above God, IMO. But for the record, if someone doesn't like the show, or feels that strongly about the meaning then don't watch it. I know theres some things I don't watch because I feel like it's promoting something, that others may feel it's not.

On a lighter note, I'm really excited to see Scotty come back to North Carolina. :D It's always exciting when one of the contestants is from here.

Not looking forward to the elimination though, I just hope its Scotty & Lauren.

Idol = 2. One that is adored, often blindly or excessively.

We're not talking about false gods or idolatry in that sense of the word here. American "Idol" just means the next big music industry star that the teenie bopper girls are gonna go crazy over.

Point two. The only reason girls are popular on the show is because they are SCANDALOUSLY dressed. Feasting your eyes on a scantily clad girl is not wise and a young man would do best to just shut off the TV.

OK, we get it - you aren't a fan of the show. Please don't derail the thread since it is for members who do like watching it and want to discuss the contestants they like.

Actually, one of the two girls (half of them) is very conservative in her manner and dress. And girls aren't really popular. The last three years, all the girls have been voted off the show by America and guys have won. This is the first time in several years that girls have made it to the finals.

My favorite was Paul but when he got knocked out, I liked Casey next. Then I was rooting for James. I like Lauren and Scotty equally (I love the duets they've done together) but I don't really care for Haley. So I'm pretty much neither here nor there at this point as long as it's not Haley.

Scotty makes my skin crawl. I sure hope Lauren pulls it off tomorrow night. On a side note, does anyone else feel the urge to knock Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler's heads together?? I don't know what it is, but this season of AI has caused a lot of anger inside of me lol. I used to not be able to wait to tune in every week, but now I'm just merely "making it through", and like I said, this will be the last season I watch. Hopefully it will die off sooner rather than later. I hope Casey releases an album. That will be the only one I pick up from this year's contestants.
