  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The U.S. Religious Landscape Survey estimates the United States is 78 percent Christian and about to lose its status as a majority Protestant nation, at 51 percent and slipping.

More than one-quarter of American adults have left the faith of their childhood for another religion or no religion at all, the survey found. Factoring in moves from one stream or denomination of Protestantism to another, the number rises to 44 percent.

One in four adults ages 18 to 29 claim no affiliation with a religious institution.
Heh have known this for some time. After all, so many flocking to pagan video games with magic etc, hit movies like Harry Potter, trying to elect politicians that support the removal of God in the public schools and replace with pagan, humanist ideas; just too much to cover with all the insanity going on. We already saw it happen once… not long and the US will be more like pagan Europe as generations grow up Godless. Europe was Christian, turned into post-Christian and now is Pagan.

Anyway, polls like these become meaningless, because you know a good deal of those polled are probably not even born-again saved, but just do the social club thing. I think the real statistics are much worse, some even say most definitely post-Christian. There are saved Churches out there though, but there are also a good deal of predators in our pulpits among the other Churches.

If your faith is shaken by Harry Potter, were you in The Faith ?
Hmm? Doesn't bother me, I'm not obsessed with HP, I just don't bother with it at all. But it's a great tool (among many) to push the US along into being a Pagan nation, as Europe has become.
Where is my faith? More interested in Godly things rather than participating in things that are an abomination to God. Sad to see the world fall for it though :( hook line and sinker.

*watches as the freshly kicked beehive flies through the air* :D
Yup, abomination, read Deut 18. Keep in mind God never changes. If there is something He hates, well He still hates it now, and He surely doesn't get enjoyment/entertainment out of it as sommme people do *whistles*

Peace out.

I don't want to get into an argument about Harry Potter, but I would like to comment on the first post. Scripture tells us that many are called but few are chosen. Indeed I get the impression from reading Scripture that there will be less in heaven than in hell. A thought that truly distresses me.

Lord help me have faith.

[opinion] The Lord raised up America to restore Israel as a nation, that's over now and with the rise in secular humanism since the 1960's, he has turned his face from us[/opinion].

Individually we may be saved but as a nation, it's over.
yep and sadly so.

Of course, as I look towards the coming election I find myself running further into His hands...and strapping myself in for the horrid ride to come....so, it aint all bad. LOL

The 60's were only the great lunge forward, all that started early last century as I've heard, maybe even rooted in the ending of the previous century. But yeah, it all started to really hit the fan in the 60's, and we are still reaping those rewards as morality hits rock bottom.

Here is what the secular media would like you to believe:
CNN said:
The U.S. Religious Landscape Survey estimates the United States is 78 percent Christian and about to lose its status as a majority Protestant nation, at 51 percent and slipping.
[emphasis added]
This is not something the Pew Forum survey emphasizes, but it is a conclusion CNN leaped on. The issue I raise here is the deliberate separation of Catholics and other denominations. The way I read the US Religious Landscape Survey over 3/4 of all Americans believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. CNN chose to make that a divisive statement. This is nothing more than an effort to minimize Christian influence. This is a case of the media, here CNN, using our own divisions against us.

Of course, there is major concern about the the 18-29 age bracket doubling it's unaffiliated ranks since childhood. It is this population, many of which vote in their first presidential election this year, that will determine this nation's fate, and for me, their lack of spiritual base in their lives is scary.

One thing CNN missed, though. Nearly six percent of the "unaffiliated" still considered religion and faith "important" or "very important" to them. These are the ones who are dissatisfied with traditional church, and is largely a young population. They don't see the church as being relevant, from my experience in talking to them, because it doesn't live up to its commands from Christ. Largely, they're right.

I agree. It doesn't really matter how many christians attend church, if they are just doing the two hour church thing and not really transformed in every area of their life.
There is a popular book used in theologian schools called,"Why are Christians Living Like The Rest Of The World." It shows through stats that the majority of Christians are still carnal and no different than non Christians except they attend church for two hours a week.

I agree the house churches are booming but are not included in stats.

Yeah, I went to the Barna Group ("christian" group) polling site last night, have used their statistics often in the past, they are showing the same thing with a great uprising in home churches, and even no church attendance of any kind for some other than reading the bible to ones family. I used to like that site, but in this article explaining the stats, they come off calling people that attend a Church meeting at a regular building, well they are calling them “Pagan Christians” argh! Heh so I’m a Pagan for going to Church now… gah! or they think so. That’s just too twisted. They tried to put in a disclaimer but the words/meaning stay the same as they are written. I wonder if among those home churches, when they grow so big and neighbors complain from all the cars and people in their neighborhood, if they now become Pagans because they rent/buy/borrow a building to meet at. That’s how most of these churches that meet in buildings started, anyway. *Deletes the barna dot commie link from favs* :p
