Here is what the secular media would like you to believe:This is not something the Pew Forum survey emphasizes, but it is a conclusion CNN leaped on. The issue I raise here is the deliberate separation of Catholics and other denominations. The way I read the
US Religious Landscape Survey over 3/4 of all Americans believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. CNN chose to make that a divisive statement. This is nothing more than an effort to minimize Christian influence. This is a case of the media, here CNN, using our own divisions against us.
Of course, there is major concern about the the 18-29 age bracket doubling it's unaffiliated ranks since childhood. It is this population, many of which vote in their first presidential election this year, that will determine this nation's fate, and for me, their lack of spiritual base in their lives is scary.
One thing CNN missed, though. Nearly six percent of the "unaffiliated" still considered religion and faith "important" or "very important" to them. These are the ones who are dissatisfied with traditional church, and is largely a young population. They don't see the church as being relevant, from my experience in talking to them, because it doesn't live up to its commands from Christ. Largely, they're right.
