The cast for the next Amazing Race, subtitled "Unfinished Business" has been officially released by CBS. Also in the press release is how the Amazing Race will be shown in HD. This next seasons cast:

Gary and Mallory (father/daughter) finished 6th in season 17
LaKisha and Jennifer (sisters), finished 4th in season 14
Jet and Cord (brothers), finished 2nd in season 16
Amanda and Kris (engaged) finished 8th in season 14
Jaime and Cara (former NFL cheerleaders/roommates) finished 2nd in season 14
Big Easy and Flight Time (Globetrotters) finished 4th in season 15
Ron and Christina (father/daughter) finished 2nd in season 12
Kent and Vyxsin (dating) finished 5th in season 12
Zev and Justin (friends) finished 9th in season 15
Margie and Luke (mother/son) finished 3rd in season 14
Mel and Mike (father/son) finished 6th in season 14

I have to say that I like the cast and am looking forward to the show in HD. Just curious if anyone here feels that someone was left off that should have been given a chance or maybe wish one of the teams would have not been brought back?

My worst problem is going to be figuring out who my favorites are. I really liked Ron and Christina back in season 12 and look forward to seeing Mel and Mike again, but there are very few teams that I'd hate to see win. I also think it will be interesting to see if Margie and Luke can get along with LaKisha and Jen, of if there will still be some bad feelings between those two teams. Also, since Margie and Luke U-turned Amanda and Kris (causing them to be eliminated) it will be interesting to see if there are any bad feelings left there.

I had to look up Amanda and Kris and I still don't remember them!

I think most of that is because they finished 8th. I'm like you, I don't have any strong memories of them either and there are teams that would have been fun to have instead. They have the cast up on the Amazing Race site along with videos reintroducing the various teams. I'm excited for it to start again!

I think I'm really going to like this season. I found myself immediately rooting for and against my favorite (and least favorite) teams, so I'm already invested. And I was happy with the way the leg ended too!

Quite a first episode, particularly in that we still don't know if a team was eliminated or not. I also found it interesting that there was no rest period in between legs at the pit stop -- seems like they are trying to make this more difficult on the teams. It also seems like this could hurt the child/parent teams, Mel (who is 70) and Ron (63) in particular, who likely need more time to recover between legs.

And I also like most of the teams, though this first episode suggested some alliances are forming, most involving teams who raced in the same season previously. One of the alliances, Jaime and Cara with Margie and Luke, may be interesting with how it will effect LaKisha and Jennifer -- seems like there are still bad feelings there.

I was satisfied with last night's results :) As last time, I really dislike Ron. Christina deserves so much more from her father.

I really ended up liking Ron and Christina a couple of years ago, they seemed to make so much progress in their relationship that it was hard not to like and be impressed by their progress. Last night, I really found myself not caring that much if they were eliminated because of how bad their relationship is again.

Kind of ironic that a team that complained so much about being eliminated by a detour was eliminated by a detour that was their own fault. I can't say that I'm sorry to see them go.

I was also glad that no teams were eliminated from the first leg of the race. It seems so odd that most of the time the Cowboys seem to be as good as any team out there yet, at other times, they just seem to fall apart.

Great episode last night - the mud looked brutal.

I was surprised that production didn't inform Phil before the mat arrivals about what happened with the fanny pack. I would have thought the Globetrotters would have been told right away about the penalty. Either way, it was the only fair thing to do.

I was very disappointed in the elimination though. I sooooooo wanted it to be the 9th place arrivals :(

I was disappointed in how the whole penalty was handled; or maybe I should say how it was shown on TV. Because of how TAR is edited, it is really hard to know who knew what when. Phil seemed to know as 1) he seemed to go fishing ("You seem upset about something.") and 2) the way he seemingly immediately had the penalty ready, as if what had happened wasn't a surprise. It makes it seem that it was specifically done this way for TV purposes (more drama if the penalty is only after a team complains).

But I'm upset that the penalty was announced only after they complained about it and without the Globetrotters there to at least give their side of the story. We also don't know how the Globetrotters finished now, my suspicion is that they might have dropped another spot or two.

One last thing, just went to the TAR website and there is a video titled "Foul Play". The video refuses to run for me this morning, I get the first 10 seconds followed by a comment "This video is unavailable of may have expired". However, the caption for the video states, "One team intentionally moves the fanny pack of another team to throw a wrench in their game." So, based on the caption it really bothers me that TAR didn't penalize the Globetrotters immediately (when they got to the mat to check in), or at least show more information about what happened.

I was rather disappointed to see Mel and Mike leave, would much prefer Cara and Jaime. OTOH, Mel seemed like the race was just too much for him and it is probably better that he is no longer racing rather than having a serious health problem on air.

I agree about Mel - it was too much for him, and I was really hoping Cara and Jaime would have been eliminated.

That's intriguing about the video, though. Intentional?? There shouldn't have been any question of a penalty if that's accurate. Wow, I want to know this story now.
