  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

After talking with friends I get the idea that I'm the only person looking forward to this movie. Come on, who else out there wants to see this??

I'm really looking forward to it. I just hope they don't try and water it down with a secular message when it was most certainly a Christian message that changed the man's heart to God. Anyway, it seems like it's going to be a hit, and I can't wait to see it.

My husband and I saw it last Sunday, we enjoyed it very much....the writing of the song, was really more of a subplot....it's really about William Wilberforce, who's mentor was the songwriter for Amazing Grace, and his efforts in Parliment to abolish Britian's envolvement in the slave trade.

"Was blind but now I see." That was a lyric that kept passing through my mind as I saw this movie. It's about how one man was able to think the right way by faith and had to convince others to be enlightened to share the same view. It shows how we people as sinners are sometimes not so quick to change our backwards ways. I really liked how the film was not shy of making the Christian themes explicit and how they made the original hymn writer, John Newton a key character.

Excellent film whereas a flawed but dedicated Christian makes a difference which changed the world of his day and ultimately ours. The story of the abolition of slavery in England during the beginning of the 19th Century and those who brought it about. Touching and true..very well acted.
