  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Amature photographer, constructive critisism welcome :)

Hello,
I like the butterfly series except most of them are OOF, but that might be due to the camera (Canon PS XS10). I think the waterfall would have been real nice, but it looks like you needed a longer exposure and the white balance is off. I think you have a solid start here.

They are really good. i especially like the double rainbow since you don't see those all the time. I think I've seen 2 full ones like that in my entire life.
Only "critisizm" I would have is the first deer pic is dark, probably because of lighting. There are times I will use a flash out doors if I know the lighting will turn out a dark picture. then other times the flash makes it too bright so some outdoor pics are by trail and error. :)

I love photography myself! Used to be into a lot more than I am now. These days I barely have enough time to breathe! hahaha. But onto my CONSTRUCTIVE criticism...

My favorites are the 8th picture of the orange flower (Is that a hibiscus? lol), also the picture of the rainbow! I don't know a lot about photography or anything, but to ME, I think I would have liked if some of the pictures were more in focus, like sharper? The up close shot of the pink flower and the deer pictures come to mind. You may have intended for them to be that way though, lol. Also, the contrast seems to be off. Maybe try playing around with that in Photoshop or something? I don't know! Wish I knew more to give you better tips! :) Regardless, they are very nice! Wonderful Job. :)

Looks like you're off to a good start! :) Here are a few things I noticed:

Framing. Experiment a lot with different framing and using the "rule of thirds." The rainbow picture and the photo of the tree stand out as shots that could benefit from creative framing. Also, with the deer photos, try to keep either the entire deer in the shot, or make it look intentional by framing just around the head/neck. Otherwise if you have just the feet, or tail cut off, it looks accidental and hurried.

As far as softness of the photos, I understand that may be a limitation of the camera and obviously, that isn't something that's easy to fix. If you're doing a lot of cropping, I would recommend setting up the shot so you use the entire frame. Having said that, I believe your closeup of the flour in post number 13 is my favorite.

Great shots, and keep on snapping away!
