  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We know from the bible that the Amalekites were an extremely sinful group of people. My question is did God ever send them a prophet to warn them before he destroyed them like he sent Jonah to Nineveh?

God tolerated their sins and wickedness for 400 years and in this span of time was anyone sent to them for their salvation?

We don't have anything written down that I am aware of. However, I would not think there is any reason to not believe that some holy man went to mission to them, or even other people in the general region. The success would vary, of course, as it did in Nineveh. We would not see wholesale conversion to Judaism/Yahwism, we don't see evidence of that in Nineveh either. Rather we would expect a person to go and preach for them to turn from sin, so we may not have anything on record of that.

Why would God want to infect Israel with the Amalekites during the very time he was keeping Israel separate from the other nations? Many of the old covenant statutes confirm this separation.

Also, though Saul may have killed every Amalekite that was found during the commanded 'purge' many escaped and continued to trouble Israel.

We have no record of them having a prophet, but even if they didn't they were justly condemned:

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all impiety and unrighteousness of people, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what can be known about God is evident among them, for God made it clear to them. For from the creation of the world, his invisible attributes, both his eternal power and deity, are discerned clearly, being understood in the things created, so that they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their reasoning, and their senseless hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God with the likeness of an image of mortal human beings and birds and quadrupeds and reptiles.

"For whenever the Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature the things of the law, these, although they do not have the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written on their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts one after another accusing or even defending them on the day when God judges the secret things of people, according to my gospel, through Christ Jesus."

In Scripture, the names had a meaning. The giants in the promised land (OT), those names mean pride, rebellion, fear, sexual sins, greed, etc.

Caleb looked at the enemy and knew it was Yahweh's will for them to have the land. "And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it." Num 13:30

We know that because of Yeshua we can definitely overcome our enemy.

Would they listen to such a prophet anymore than the people who heard Noah in his day?

It's like if a tree fall in the woods, does it make a noise if there is no one around to hear it?

Shouldn't they deserve a chance like the people of Nineveh?

They could of been given the same or even more of a chance than the people of Nineveh. Either it wasn't written down or if it was then it's been lost to history.
