One more question: When was the man in the chariot saved when Philip, literally led by the Holy Spirit, came over and asked him what are you reading?
He was saved when the Lord Jesus bore his sin on the cursed tree and put it away by the sacrifice of Himself. He was born of God when the Spirit put the sinner and the Gospel together by the mouth of Philip.

I think I can see what you mean but I wonder if that is the the Biblical way to word it. It seems like the Bible uses the word saved to be something not in the past. Like "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you SHALL BE saved." Or whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord SHALL BE saved" So it seems to be that saved is often used as a synonym for Justification and we are said to be justified "epi" (upon) faith.

I realize that when Jesus died on the cross that that rescued us from the possibility we would be lost... so we were saved by His death... but why don't the Apostles say things like ... Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you were saved ... Or if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead you have already been saved. What's up with shall be?

I think maybe the answer is that sometimes to be justfied means to be SEEN AS RIGHTEOUS and sometimes it means to be DECLARED RIGHTEOUS. So when Jesus died on the cross God sees the elect as righteous (as Justified) but when we believe we are declared righteous. (Justified...in this second sense.... Officially declared Righteous) Thanks...

What is the difference between believing IN Christ and believing ON Christ?

One must be reborn of the Spirit. The evidence of salvation is in a man's heart and thus his fruits.

There is no difference as far as salvation goes, a lost person can believe in or on Christ but if they haven't asked Christ for salvation there not saved.

What do you need to ask Christ for salvation, exactly what you was asking about. They need to believe that Christ is real and died for our sins, then ask for salvation.

I have felt at times in the past that maybe I wasn't saved. Then a great brother told me not to worry, look up Romans ten and ask yourself did I do this.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

You literally have to come to the realization that Christ died for you and everyone. It will make you wonder, what in the world was i waiting for.

JOHN 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Only faith "full belief" in Jesus Christ can provide salvation. Ask in your own way this is just a guide.

"Dear heavenly Father I am sorry Christ had to take the punishment that I deserve." "I ask you Christ that you please forgive me of all my sins. I thank you Lord for your wonderful grace and forgiveness.

After your done tell a pastor at a Christian Church that you have asked Christ for Salvation and go to Sunday school you'll find fellowship to be a great help as you grow as a Christian.
