• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Well, funny is the title of the thread but our world is funnier, I didn't want to write this, but maybe someone else shares the same feelings with me...
I have recent feelings that everything around me is an illusion, specially when I remember my childhood in the early 2000's, I was raised in Egypt and the country was beautiful, everything was beautiful anyway, I felt beauty in this world, freedom was a reality.. now freedom is a slogan.. I even wonder... what if I was born in the 50's? or the ends of 18th century, where life was calm and quiet, now the world is so noisy that I don't want to live in it anymore! I'm sick of lies, of politics, of protocols, of news, of everything here! Everyone pretends they are all-knowing! Whether religious or not, we seem to fight for what doesn't matter while ignoring those who are in true need... I will write more on this soon... I don't want to think now, but I have to, overthinking is my biggest enemy now... i can't lie to myself and enjoy life while others are suffering... i will write more soon if God allows...

Satan and the Beast have been used to make created MAN believe his bodies and the world he experiences with his created senses are real.

I interpreted two points from your words, tell me which is what you meant.
1) We as human beings are driven to our current physical reality only, making our physical existence the priority and hence we deny the true reality which is spiritual?

2) I'm being fooled to believe that everything around me is a reality in itself when instead i'm living a test? Does that mean you are not real and my whole life is built on illusionary events and characters?

Note: I'm totally aware this is just a discussion, i'm trying to make my mind as open as possible, i'm not insane though.
Note2: What is "reality" and "sanity" already? I don't think any single human here (on earth) is 100% sane, not one..

Brother @Micopero,

I can tell you that.
You are dead wrong!

Why am I dead wrong you would ask.
Will tell.

Because, if you watched documentaries, and if you read books, people who lived one or two centuries ago had a huge struggle to survive. Not to mention the centuries back time.

The medizine was not advanced. A simple Bronchitis or a Appendizitis could easily kill you!

No cameras, no police presence. This means everyone could kill you just because you looked him wrong, or he THOUGHT you looked him wrong.

No technologies, no maps. Skills had to be acquired to survive. Or to depend to lots of people with different skills. Your land was never yours. Not that now is, but at least now you have some documents to back that up. Back in time, you just had in the best case scenario, a ticket. Like a movie ticket.

Great loss of time. People had to travel longer distances, for longer periods of time, on horses, and horses need care, not gas and gas pedal, and not to forget being exposed to lots of stressful factors, like wild animals, weather, bandits, etc.

I could go like this forever. You get the point.

Life now is easier. Life now is, unfortunately, slowly turning into a virtual reality. You got that right though! We are becoming more and more distanced from ourselves. We depend on social media. And we judge people by social media and their followers. I myself have lots of fake followers, excuse me my Creator and Jesus his son, but I have to survive somehow, and no other way than this at the moment. Fakes I need, for now.

We can't change it, but to find normal people, like ourselves, outdated, old-fashioned people, and outcasts.

Most of the people here could hate me forever for saying this, but I will break it down for ya, we are all outcasts. If we weren't, we wouldn't be here right now, but instead in the Kaffee Bar, or posting stupid selfies in Instagram, or writing random nonsense in YouTube or in some Audi forum.

That's about it.
Greetings, V.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, so feel free to tell me I'm wrong.

I think that maybe what you are feeling in a very intense way, is a personal realization of the fall.

The fall from grace can happen in our lives on a smaller level. In a way, our loss of innocence growing up is a reminder of a larger story of human existence. it turns us to God's word, which is more real than the ink on the pages or the paper his word is printed on. His story is echoed through us all, whether we are believers or not.

It might be good to go back and read poets and biographies about people in history. You might find they have the same struggles, just with different things. While modern life does have some very serious issues, it can be hard to have some historical perspective from where we stand. We have it pretty good compared to many time periods.

If you find these really intense feelings of depersonalization stick around for a long time, or get worse, I'l definitely talk to your doctor. I've struggled with extremely negative emotions in the past and it's never a bad idea to let your health professionals know if something is going on with you.

You are right, but that doesn't mean that today isn't worse compared to 30 years ago, life is harder to bear, away from the technological and medical advancements, peace is fading away with the high rate of population increment and the way people are losing their identities and gaining a new unified identity through globalisation/westernization.

I'm sure that my perspective is limited, and that i'm partially wrong at some of those points, but i would be happy if i lived in Egypt in the 90s without any technological advancements, just me and my wife in a small house with no noise, maybe i'm a boring person, but man, even nature is fading away...
