Whenever someone asks me about God I try my best to encourage them and explain him to them. Or whenever someone is down I try to give an example in the bible to help them, etc.

But deep down I'm not really sure if I love God. I'm trying my best too but it's getting more and more difficult. The problem of pain/evil is making me bitter against God.
What should I do? Am I hypocrite? How do I get over it?

I have stuggled with the something when I was a bit younger. But because of what I have been through I know that the only reason im alive now is that I have hope in Jesus. Its really the only thing that has worked in my life. Yeah there are times I doubt because no one is perfect. Sometime you will realize the same.

Praying for you guys.

sounds like me. I was very close to suicide a few years ago when I got so depressed. When I think about it as of right now, I think it was god that stopped me from continuing to think about it.

Jesus isn't responsible for the pain and suffering in the world. Demiurge created an imperfect world and tried to enslave humanity once it gave birth to civilisation. Jesus fights against the evil in the world. As long as as you hate evil, you love Jesus.

Sorry, but who is Demiurge?

Yahweh, the god of the Old Testament.

I am a Gnostic. So, unless you are actually interested in Gnosticism, you shouldn't really take anything I say to heart.

This isn't a thread for a theological debate, as far as I understand it, and I am merely offering my own input.

How did you get out of that?

Putting all your trust and faith through jesus Christ. I got locked up for burglary in sept. I got saved in jail cause my cell mate was a wise christian who taught me the reason i was locked up was because god loves so much he need to halt my behavior and my ways. I always knew god btw just turned away. So i put all my trust in Jesus Christ and had faith....then i got bailed out 10 days later by my mom who was more happy and thankful to God than angry. Till that date of my saving september 14 i stopped a lot of things and even harder things but knowing it was all worth it. I was supposed to get 2 years and 5 years probation. Instead i got 6 months house arrest. 5 more months since I'm currently on it. and its the best that happened to me. Ive been learning and helping and being really committed to serving God. Im not perfect. but the Moral is....It doesn't matter how deep you are in the pit of evil you built yourself in....if you just call out to god and confess and agree to follow him through christ and TRUST him. That pit will dug up and transformed up to 60000 km Mountain lifted to God.

I am having the same problem, i try my best and things keep not working out. I want an answer too. :)

I suggest reading Job and a commentary on it. Sounds like it fits your dilemma. For a long time I didn't really understand it, but I took a class that went over it and it's really about how when worse comes to worse and everything is taken from you- possessions, health, relationship- would you still love God? Helps to put struggle and suffering in good context. At least for me.

YHWH the God of the Old and New Testament.

Fixed that for you. If you think Adonai has changed, then I'm sorry, but you do not follow the same deity that I do.

We do not follow the same deity or, at least, not entirely.

If you're right, then I worship only one aspect of God. If am right, then you worship more than one God.

No, we just don't follow the same deity. Plain and simple.

Alright, sure you could say that, that does make sense. However, in the Scriptures, it is stated that God will spit out the "lukewarm." It's either all or nothing. I'd rather risk being wrong (even though I do not believe I am, and never would.) and putting my full dedication into one, unchanging God, than go halfway just because I don't want to spend time figuring out why God did what he did and allowed what he allowed in the Old Testament.
