• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi Nellie,
Welcome to CF. I have not had same gender attraction so I don't know from personal experience how that works.
What I do know is that there are a lot of lonely people out there who want friends. If you learn to be good a friend to both males and females you will find a lot of meaning in life. Jesus said if you get water for a person you have done it unto me. So be a friend to people you meet and you have been a friend to Jesus.
Hope that helps some.

no ones ever probbably told you that you are the son of God in Jesus name. He loves you as much as he loved his son Jesus Christ so that you dont have to be worried about your loneliness. Ask God to change your hearth and to find friend, he shall help you ! I had the same troubles but God lead me through it !

God promises to fulfill our needs. He will fill the hole in your heart, the longing for companionship in the way that is according to His will I believe. When I left my partner, I had a big hole in my heart. I felt like I lost my soul mate. But God has been faithful. He has provided for my needs - he has sustained me with people that love and care about me.

Trust your walk with Christ to fill your needs - and let Him work on changing you as you develop a relationship with Him. Fill your life with others and helping others, and focus on all that is good rather than what is missing. He will sustain you.

I'm 24. I'm a guy. And I struggle with attraction to other guys.

Not gonna lie, it sucks.

But it's something that, as the years pass, I'm learning to deal with and fight against. Those desires are not sinful; they are the effects of a fallen world. Just as the temptation to steal is not wrong, so the temptation to "act out" on these sinful desires is not wrong.

It is a temptation and pull to do wrong, but the temptation itself is just that: nothing more than a temptation.

I wish I could tell you that those desires and pulls go away after a while. But I can't. My own struggle is going on 11 years or so, and, at times, it's just as tempting as the very first day. But, BUT, God has taught me SOOOOO much through learning to deal with this. He has grown me in ways I never could have imagined.

So, though I wish this temptation would disappear from my life, I am thankful that the Lord gave it to me in the first place. Through it, I am being made more and more into a man of God.

Will I ever have a wife? No idea. Will I struggle with these thoughts/desires the rest of my life? Possibly.

I don't care. It's not my responsibility to worry about that. If I truly believe that God is sovereign and in control, I can rest assured in that fact. If He wants me to get married eventually, He'll bring a woman into my life. If He doesn't, I will trust that is the best option for my life.

There's no Plan B with God. Plan A is always the best :)
