• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My Dear, Sweet Sister in the Lord,

I wish I could give you a hug! I am sorry you are hurting so much right now!

I was just reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis and a particular paragraph really stood out to me and I think maybe it could comfort you... C.S. Lewis is discussing what types of people that the Lord saves ...

"But if you are a poor creature-poisoned by a wretched upbringing in some house full of vulgar jealousies and senseless quarrels-saddled, by no choice of your own, with some loathsome sexual perversion-nagged day in and day out by an inferiority complex that makes you snap at your best friends-do not despair. He knows all about it. You are one of the poor whom He blessed. He knows what a wretched machine you are trying to drive. Keep on. Do what you can. One day (perhaps in another world, but perhaps far sooner than that) He will fling it on the scrap-heap and give you a new one. And then you may astonish us all-not least yourself: for you have learned your driving in a hard school. (Some of the last will be first and the first will be last."

-C.S. Lewis - Mere Christianity p. 215

Hang in there Sister! The Lord knows your struggles and loves you!!!!

Byootaful,

 Of course your going to go to Heaven. We don't have our ED's because we choose. An ED is an illness. One that has symptoms we just need to learn how to manage. We need to gain back control of our lives. Instead of letting our ED haveing it all. Hopefully some day we will be released of it. But untell then, just do your best at fighting it. God see's our disorders and yes they sadden him. But he also see's our hearts and that we are trying. That's some times all we can do. And he accepts it. I pray daily to be released and I will pray for you daily as well:prayer:

None of us is worthy to enter heaven. God's plan was to provide our way because we are incapable of meeting His standards.

Instead of focusing on they negative aspects of your ED, focus on the positive things. Make a list of the things you are doing right in your life. For example, you are working on your ED by posting here. You are interested in your spiritual life, or you would not have asked the question. See if you can think of 3 positive things everyday that you do right for yourself.

:hug: Katie. Ive thought about that some as well.

In my mind, those who commit suicide dont automatically go to Hell. I think God has to understand that sometimes things get so desperate - if not in reality, in our own minds - that we cant go on any longer. So, while an ED can be a type of suicide, I dont think that one who dies from ana/mia would automatically go to Hell either. It depends on one's relationship with God and all really.

I dont know if that makes sense.

You do deserve to go to Heaven. At least, in my mind. Youre a wonderful person. Youre struggling, yes, but that doesnt mean that you arent worth it. You ARE worth it; youre a princess of the King and He wont forget that. He loves you.

There is not a doubt in my mind that you and I and every other Christian who has an eating disorder are all going to heaven. God is understanding. I do think I'll have to give an account of my life, and this eating disorder can sometimes consume my life, but I don't think God will be judgemental about it...I think he'll welcome us and tell us it's all over and we don't have to deal with any of it anymore, and then we'll go on to worship him in heaven forever. I find it hard to explain that death is sometimes all I am looking forward to...but how could I not?
