  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Bearyme,

I can't tell you that homosexuality is not a sin because the Bible says it is.

However, here is where I get so angry lately. I keep finding myself ministering to gays because some knuckle-headed Christian has made them feel worthless.

Here are the facts:

1. The act of homosexuality is described in the Bible as an abomination; however, so are over 200 other sins, such as lying, cheating on taxes, gossiping, and giving someone a haughty look. There are plenty of heterosexual Sunday school teachers and the like who are guilty of abominations and have even made a them into a lifestyle.

2. Even Mother Teresa; with all her good works, would have been lost and doomed to Hell if it had not been for the fact that she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

3. We are all born into sin. We all fight our fleshly desires everyday, and we all stumble and fall short.

The thing is that we all have temptations. Yours is your lust for the same sex. I have other temptations to sins that aren't your temptations. You make the grade where I fail, and vice versa. We all must recognize just how much we can deal with each day as far as fighting our flesh... then do our best... not use the blood of Christ as an excuse to be weak in our fight.

God looks at your heart, not your works. He wants you to make Him the lover of your soul before any other human being. He desires you. Seek Him about this and know that He loves you more in your weakest moments than ever; as He does us all. You are precious to Him and no more guilty than a Pastor whose sins are hidden in private. No one can fool God. We are all guilty. :groupray:

Excellent post! I've been trying to make the same point in several other threads (some about homosexuality and some not). I even did a Podcast episode about it. But this one post does a better job of summarizing my own position than anything I have written.

VertigoAge,

Thank you. I am so grateful to the Father for allowing me to see this SIMPLE truth. It amazes me how blind some veteran Christians and even my fellow ministers are in this matter. I seem to be telling the same thing over and over to hurting gays and lesbians. I guess after telling it so often, it has tweaked itself a bit and been simplified. That's always a good thing since I tend to edit everything I write.

God gave me a heart for these dear souls, and it just angers me so when I see a brother or sister in Christ act more like a Pharisee than Christ. Then, I find myself doing the old self-check-self-reflection because I fear standing in judgment of them the way they stand in judgment of these. What good would I be then?

Pray that God will keep opening doors for me to minister in this area as I pray the same for you. We know it is only Christ Who dwells in us that loving anyone is possible. I thank him for that love and pray that He bestow upon you some moments of incredible joy in the days to come.

Well, I'm a lesbian and have been with my partner for nearly 2 years. My friend told me that being homosexual goes agaisnt God and it's what satanists do to make God angry. It sounded really dumb when she first told me but then I went and read the part in the bible about it. Now I'm confused.
Does God really hate people for their sexual preference? Even though I love him and belive in him, why would he send me to hell for how I was born?

God does not hate, He does feel sorrow though and He can be invoked to anger.

It's not how you were born, it's a sense of taste you have developed. I like salty Dutch liquorice but that's an acquired taste too. Homosexuality is not holy, The Lord is holy, therefore He find's it detestable. Praise be to Him for His mercy, He can change you did you know? He can cure your homosexuality and you'll be hetrosexual again even when you don't wish for it. If you accept Jesus in your life and pledge loyalty to Him then you'll be transformed. So many Christians can testify of this including myself, I'm attracted to females now and it wasn't even my wish or expectation!

I think homosexuality is lesser or equal to adultery, but we are instructed "it is better to have a millstone tied round our neck and cast into the sea than to cause another to sin", so I have to tell you it is sin. However it is not one of the ten commandments but for disobeying His will you are subject to punishment, and therefore you require the forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

Your sin is between you and The Lord and not between you and any other Christian, it is highly inappropriate for Christians to discriminate against homosexuals. If you can't sort it out when you're alive you'll definitely sort it out when you come to face Him in His full glory, but it's up to you to listen to your heart when you read The Bible.

Of course you were born that way. We are all born that way. It's human nature to be sinful. No sin is worse than the other and God hates sin.

Because we are born into sin doesn't mean we are supposed to keep sinning. The issue is some people think homosexuality is not a sin and because it can sometimes be found in nature, they say it's natural. However, the Bible clearly says otherwise. Usually it's the people who view the Bible as a guide and not inerrant say different. When we become new creations in Christ we follow the Spirit and are not controlled by our sinful nature. A Child of God follows the Spirit.

Romans 8:5
Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

As said in Hebrews 10:
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

Now of course we still sin, we will never be perfect. The difference is when you know it is sin and you know you shouldn't be doing it you should be striving your hardest with the Holy Spirit's help to not continue. You look to Christ and try to live your live in the Spirit.

I'm sorry you've met with such a lack of charity and understanding from Christians.
There are different opinions amongst Christians on this one, and the best thing to do is to keep praying about it, and ask God whether you are doing anything that grieves Him.. in any area, not just this one.
The Holy Spirit convicts, not man, and if you want to hear Him, you will.

But whether or not it is sin, God won't 'send you to hell' for it.
Jesus died for your sins, all of them, and if you accept Him as your Lord, you are saved - it doesn't depend on anything we do or don't do, but on His grace.

Praying that you can find peace on this issue.
If you want to talk to someone who understands, please PM me anytime
