Okay, heres the story.

I'm 22. Young right? Well I find myself redefining the nature of my exsitince. Like alot of gentlemen my age, I enjoyed going out to establishments that serve alcoholic bevarages and meeting ladies. Infact, I was able to fufill teenage dreams of actually "picking up" these girls and particpate in mutual sexual relations.

Ever since I enlisted in the Army, I went from a skinny, unsocial geek to a fit, social geek with enough confidence to actually score. Mission accomplished right?

Man I wish. These past few years I've been in the Army, I've done alot of things. Infact, alot of these deeds have earned me some nick names in the barracks that can be worn as badges of honor. However, while it gets me cheers and respect amoung the guys, I really shudder at the thought of people on the outside hearing some of these deeds.

In reflection, I'm almost ashamed (almost). I mean, none of these stories I would tell my mother, or for that matter, a girl I care about. It's even come to the point now, where I have no desire to go out and engage in meaningless sex.

Thats the heart of it, right there. I live in a testosrome charged enviroment, where going out, getting drunk and bringing home a gal is the standard, and when I could finally met and sometimes exceede that standard, I get a case of the morals.

So I stopped. Just like that. Just stopped going out all togther. My friends tell me, it's becuase I'm getting old. Now, for some of you people that always haven't lived the pious life, such as myself, did you guys experince this like me? Just, out of the blue? Am I getting older or did something happen when I wasn't looking?

Can't find anyone in my immediate area that can empathize.

You are not getting old just becoming wise. I myself was just like you apart from the sex thing. I went out maybe 4 times a week and drank for england. There comes a time when you realise you don't need this in your life, it's time to move on.

Ha, a combination, I suppose. The most obvious reason to me is the thrill of the chase...you've accomplished the mission, and risen to the top of the competition. You're probably also exhausted, and more in tune with the realities of life. Maybe some of your friends have just given up on planning for a future.

We all have convictions, though, and you are probably coming to realize what the activity is doing to everyone involved...diseases, disrespect, you know all the repercussions. We all need the security of a few close friends more than shallow adoration from many.

Maybe God is even protecting you from something just in time.

Wise eh?

And just when you think you couldn't get any more mature. However, it is time to move on. Now, what to do on Friday and Saturday nights when I'm not drinking to the health of the Queen?

The emphasis is mine and that really stuck me in the eye when I read, becuase I was just warming up to this idea a few weeks ago. Here's the blurb outta my blog;

...I've been reflecting today on some things I read awhile ago by Bill O'reilly in one of his books. About the people you surround yourself with in life, are a dierect reflection of you. Ditto that, how you treat people...

Things do become more lucid after talking with people who have "Been there, Done that."

Cheers!

Ha! It's already in your heart.
What to do when not drinking to the queen? Keep writing in your blog. Cause trouble here. Start a writer's group to record everything you're going through. Volunteer in the community. Hold a quilting bee. Bring a guitar to town, and see if you can collect musicians to jam with. Encourage the same people you were wild with to join you in something productive. Staple your friends' shirt cuffs closed. Teach English to little kids. Teach yourself Swahili. Write to your mum.

there's always duct tape if you get bored with the quilting...
there is really a lot to do out there, including wasting time on these forums (I do plenty of that!) Really one of the best things I would say would be to volunteer, either serving meals at the local rescue mission, or with kids, I have a few kids I devote time to, they are struggling with either family issues or something like that, and they think its the greatest thing in the world to have someone who cares about them and what they are going therough :)

Without love our lives are meaningless. If you don't really love the person that you are having sexual intercourse with , then its meaningless, and God won't be happy. Let me give you some sharp advice (before its too late, lol) , Put God on the throne of your life instead of yourself. Live to Love and help others.

We are here on earth to love and help others. So why you as a Christian are in the army is a sheer riddle to me.

I thank you for your advice but....

What is a sheer riddle to me, as to why you think I'm a christian when I am posting in the "Struggles by Non-Christians" forum.

^_^ I'm sure we'd all make that mistake.

Christians in the army--people interpret war totally differently, and being a Christian doesn't mean they have to lose their opinions and freedom to interpret scriptures.

The old fashioned reason for fighting for the country was to protect it from invasion, from being taken over, from being looted. If you don't have an army at all, this happens. Someone has to do it. Love sometimes means giving up comforts and courtesy to protect others.

Ideally, offering your enemy a cloak should work. But the US gives out gobs of money annually, and gets stabbed in the back. They try to negotiate, and get misunderstood. Everything our government does is surely not innocent, even in these "peaceful giving" areas, but the reality is, a nation can't enjoy the freedom to live lovingly without taking a little self-defense lesson.

I exchanged the look with the am I getting old, I look at our age like this, we pinch our flesh as the very first that walked this earth and that same flesh may appear to be old but it is that same flesh, so truth is we remain the same age as the sun's light is the same light that the 7th day brought us on this earth countless years ago, we here just spun in a circle and went around that same sun our day looks like a day it looks like the same day so smile when you ask that one, too we are in a place the colonist set up ass that kingdom of Christ no doubt it houses many churches and faiths with the same areable we the people we call ourselves, i know what the money does to our first light it construes the very meaning of equal, and i as how? we can see the ninth and repair this how it construes us money disparges us it removes us it inslaves us for we are perfect in a perfect world, this one has a flesh contract with those founders signatures and the devil is beaten , he may not even walk on this earth without that flesh to flesh birth we have, today who do we know born in 1776? lol no one i know, the earth has it's title and no one hear can beat our's lol so feel the same age and pass that under you hat George
