• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

On the 18th I will have six months. Feels good. I had the time I have today once before but fell off the wagon.

Tomorrow the thought x time AGAIN. Will finally be no more.

I have been going to meetings for over 2 years and its been a battle.

I could not grasp the higher power thing. That has been the biggest battle for me but finally I had something click in my brain while debating scripture with some baptists. One of them said for being agnostic you sure act like a christian.

Well he was rite. I can not lie to my self anymore. I think I do believe in the bible. I do believe in Jesus. I think my biggest problem all these years was I lost my faith.

I am starting to get it back hmm but were do I go from here is the next question.

Congratulations on having 6 mos. It's just One Day At a Time and the time adds up as we practice the 12 steps. I'm sorry you had such a battle and so many do and have including myself. I would say that a next step could be starting to get as close to Jesus as you can through constant prayer and meditation that will lead you to the right places in life. God bless you. You are doing so well.

Congratulations on your sobriety. Thank you for your honest, candid post. The more we are honest, the easier our sobriety becomes.

Where do you go from here? Well, getting into a Bible teaching church that supports 12 Step recovery is a start. My church is one. In fact, we have a women's support group that uses the Life Recovery Bible as our guide for our meetings.

Get yourself a Life Recovery Bible and do an independent study of the Steps using it. There is a workbook you can get using that version of the Bible that can guide you through the Steps using Scripture.

Accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. He died on the cross for all of our sins, including yours, so that we could have a personal relationship with God, and spend eternity with Him. It would be part of Steps 2 and 3.

The reason I suggested these things in this order is to help you incorporate the Steps with Scripture, which is the Word of God. Scripture says, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Unless we have a firm foundation of the first three Steps, the rest of the Steps are very difficult to do honestly and thoroughly.

I hope this makes sense.

God Bless.
