I have a 17, almost 18 year old son who can hardly wait to move out. For me, just the thought of him moving out sends me into a depression and fills me with a lot of anxiety....For those of you who have gone through this and know what I'm talking about and can accutely feel my pain, how did you get through it and do you have any words of wisdom for me. :help:

I don't know if I can help or not, because my daughter moved out twice, and came back 4 to 6 months later, each time!! He'll go when he is ready, and when he is ready, you'll know!! mine just wasn't ready!! (she's 22 and still isn't ready!)

My daughter moved out almost a year ago. She is 25. She moved because of a disagreement. It really hurt when she left. It crushed me. I felt like a part of me left with her. I felt really empty inside.

My house sometimes still feels empty at times. I am a single mom. But it was the best thing for both of us. We were both able to grow up apart from one another and now we are closer than we were back then. It is so hard to believe how nice she keeps her apartment. It is spotless. At my house, her room was a disaster area.

We are even going on vacation together this year.

My advise is to surround yourself with good friends who are willing to listen to you pouring your heart out. Get involved with your church, learn a new hobby that gets you out of the house and maybe get a pet. And continue to pray for your child that he/she makes mature life decisions. Pray for their safety, their friends, their living area, their job, etc.
