I had no idea CF had an anime forum.

Well this is me by my anime preferences. It's a good starting list for the wannabe otaku. :) Any attractive, Christian female cosplayers on this site? :D;)

Rurouni Kenshin was my first anime series and it was a very welcome change from the usual and offered so much. You have to give it some time to get going (introduce characters and get past some filler episodes), but once the Kyoto Arc starts with the appearance of Saitoh Hajime, you will understand why the series is loved. The Kyoto Arc is beautiful. Kenshin at the very last moment mastering the succession technique stills moves me. I recommend you first finish the TV series (boring to start and near end), the movie (which is just OK) and then watch the OVAs (the first is amazing). [10 out of 10]

Berserk is dark and cruel. I also give it a [10] ranking because the story is so entrancing and characters so complete. There is some nudity in the later episodes. The manga picks up where the anime ends.

Death note is definitely one of those iffy animes for Christians, but the story is interesting and can be genuinely clever sometimes. It is an ongoing anime. [10]

Elfen Lied has lots and lots of boobies, but the story was lovely to me at the time I watched it (in one of my emo states). [10]

The beginning 50 episodes of InuYasha are unique and worth watching. Kikyo is a fantastic character. Up through episode 50 or so I give it a [10], but do not get caught up in the later fillers!

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Princess Mononoke by Miyazaki are both [10]'s. Other things by Miyazaki are probably worth watching, but not as interesting I think for an adult. Grave of the Fireflies is highly esteemed by many but sad and depressing. Spirited Away is somewhat mainstream and worth watching.

Twelve Kingdoms was a recent discovery but deserves being counted as a [10]. I think it is fairly unknown but an amazing story! Watch it!

Those are my only 10s, but others worth watching include:

Basilisk [8]
Bleach (up to the filler that just ended) [8]
Blood: The last vampire [8]
Cowboy Bebop [9]
Final Fantasy VII - Last Order (if you played the video game) [9]
Fist of the North Star - New [9]
Fruit Baskets (this is a girly anime, but I liked it when I was more sensitive) [7]

Gankutsuou (very impressive and unique anime!) [9]
Hellsing (might want to just watch the ongoing ova) [8]
Hellsing OVAs (ongoing) [9]
Hikaru no Go (about a game, but addicting!!!!) [9]
Hunter X Hunter TV [8]
Invader Zim (nonanime cartoon but amusing) [8]
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (based off a hentai game, but no nudity... might want to avoid as it is sickeningly depressing) [8]
Kino's Travels (dark and somewhat depressing) [9]
Mushishi (unique and amazing, but can be very boring and somewhat redundant) [9]
My Neighbor Totoro [9]
Naruto (through the fall of the third hokage can be interesting) [7]
Naruto: Shipuuden [9]
Now and then, here and there (just remember that it was GOOD) [9]
One Piece [8]
Ranma 1/2 (can be hilarious, rarely has some cartoonish nudity) [8]

Record of Lodoss War OVA (make sure it is the OVA) [9]
Samurai Champloo (lean and mean...for the most part) [8]
Trigun (this is a classic) [8]

Vampire Hunter D (might have nudity, maybe not) [8]
Vampire Hunter D bloodlust [8]
Vampire Princess Miyu 1-26 (this was one of my first...might have over rated it) [8]
X - tv series (make sure it is the series) [8]
Yu Yu Hakusho (sometimes clever) [8]

Hey, there are some mature anime lovers on here... I disagree with some of the scores you places on stuff, esp. Elfen Lied, I REALLY hated that series...

But anyway, based on what you liked I've got a few recommendations you might enjoy.

Ergo Proxy -- All of it has been subbed, and the first two disks have been released by Genion, I think.

Claymore -- I don't know a lot about it, the manga is already available commercially in America but the anime is still being made and as of right now only three or four episodes have been subbed (that I could find anyway). I recommend this because people who were telling me that if I like Berserk I would like this.

Texhnolyze – In my mind one of the greatest anime series aver made. It’s a slow and dark series that would have more in common with The Godfather than most anime. If you appreciate classic cinema you will appreciate this. Very slow though.

Thanks! I'll be sure to check those out, though I am not really a fan of slow moving anime -- for example, Monster, despite being almost universally loved, was too slow to start for me. I'm excited about Claymore though. :)

Oh. In America, we're only up to where Itachi trys to kiddnap Naruto. :S
Naruto is combination of everything from 10 to 0. Filler episodes make you want to turn off the TV. There is also of course a certain degree of chessiness to it. But the characters are deeper then say, DBZ, and the action is superb in certain areas (bridge fight, Hokages, Naruto vs Sasuke)

Texhnolyze never grabbed me. By a couple episodes in, I found it to be a yawnfest of massive proportions. You really have to have an insanely high tolerance for slow paced anime to watch it, or you will be literally bored to tears.
