Frankly, I believe Mohammedwas a text book schizophrenic, there was no angel, false or otherwise. That said, his followers still worship the same God as Christians and Jews, they just believe a bunch of "non canon" stuff about the deity. Much like Mormons.
they remained pagan idol worshipers until Mohammad came with the message of Islam to believe in one god ...thus they accepted the Torah the bible and the Quran...when prophet Mohammad came he came with the idea of worshipping one god and then they converted to islam

So the muslims came up with the theory that the Torah and the Bible had been corrupted and even say the Corrupter was the Apostle Paul...
Now if the Bible was corrupted by Paul who was one of the original authors of the Bible and lived in the times of Jesus then the muslims would not have accepted the Torah or the Bible 500 years later, that where in their hands during the time of muhammad...

I wouldn't at all be surprised if pre-Muslim Pagan Arabs worshiped a god cognate with El, as we see among the Akkadians, Arameans, and other Semitic cultures; but it wouldn't have been called "Allah" since al- is the definite article; but an Arabicized form of El would be in keeping with what we know about ancient near eastern polytheism.
But I'm sure you knew all this already, after all you are the expert. Which is why I'm sure you'll be more than capable of showing all your historic and scholarly sources on this subject.
