All We Have Is the Old Testament, The 4 Gospels & Revelation
We are marooned an a desert island and among our meager belongings is a worn out Bible. It is so worn out, in fact, that most of the New Testament is gone ...the pages are missing. Most of the Bible is intact ...I mean, we DO have the Old Testament, the 4 complete gospels and the entire book of Revelation. We surmise that there is more but we don't know what is missing. So we don't know WHAT we're missing! We have what we have and that's it.
Would we have enough information available to 'save' us for eternal life? And, what would we find missing from our island 'church' that we find in abundance now in our churches? I mean, many of today's churches are SO Pauline in culture that we would surely see some major differences with the absence of his epistles alone. Remember, Paul is gone. We have no idea who he is.
Would our belief systems be the same as now and, if not, how would they be different?
Would the Holy Spirit still provide us with the same gifts ...even though the reading literature concerning the gifts is not there?
Would we believe that the Law had been nailed to the cross?
Would we be ordaining women into the church?
Would we be contented with just ONE denomination or would we want to branch out and form others because of our differences in interpretation of the Old Testament, the 4 gospels and Revelation?
What else, do you think?
