  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Old Republic era stuff. Miles better than anything else, especially the films - although I still like the films for introducing the world, but other people have taken that ball and ran much further with it.

You get to experience the history of the ancient, uber-powerful Sith Lords, but you also have much more grey area and interesting discussions when it comes to some of the characters, like Revan and Kreia.

Also you have HK-47. And penis jokes.

Movies: I'm a Han-shot-first Original Trilogy guy. Eps I-III left a bad taste in my mouth, although I probably would have really enjoyed the second one if only the angsty teen love drama hadn't been so annoying (or better yet, hadn't been included at all.) I would love to travel to a parallel universe and see the realization of Leigh Brackett's original ESB screenplay (since it will sadly never happen in this one...)

Books: Brian Daley's Han Solo trilogy from the 70s is all kinds of awesome. I also enjoyed some of the "Tales..." short story collections (Bounty Hunters, Mos Eisley Cantina, Jabba's Palace). No real interest in the hundreds of EU novels though.

Comics: The pre-ESB Marvel series was lots of fun, as was the Dark Horse Tales of the Jedi.

Games: WEG Star Wars 2nd edition is a great tabletop RPG, never had the desire to play SW d20. Loved and played the heck out of the original Dark Forces PC game. More recently, I had fun with Knights of the Old Republic and Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy.

Just paste gnombient's comments in this post. I think it comes down to age of the fan.

I'll add: I think KOTOR genre stuff takes itself too seriously.

I like the CG Clone Wars when they aren't focused on UBER-BORING SENATE stuff. Do they expect kids to WATCH that stuff? The recent story focusing on Ventress looks promising, the duel with Dooku in his 'sith jammies' was entertaining.

Just beat Force Unleashed 2 on PS3, awesome game. I'm loving the Jedi mind trick in this game.

Starkiller: "Your friends will kill you..."

stormtrooper: "Not if I kill them first!!" *starts blasting other stormtroopers*

HAHA Epic.

I love so much about star wars its hard for me pick favorite bits! I don't really care for episodes I, II, III . But I've watched IV, V, and VI probably over 100 times.

Probably, my favorite 'touching' moment is when Vader asks to look at Luke with his own eyes, for the first time, or when Vader is looking at Luke while the emporer is electrocuting him. That little bit of dust on his helmet makes him looks so sad.

Honestly I probably can't pick a favorite quote, I and my freinds in high school and college spoke in Star wars quotes most of the time. And many of them have humours memories attached. For instance the line by Vader to Luke in return of the jedi, "...sister. So, you have a twin sister" is what my roommate would say anytime he would get the beam sword in smash bros, then proceed to quote Vader the entire time he had it.

I read a bit of the young jedi knights books when I was younger, and I liked the stories held within. But probably my favorite non-movie storyline is the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. Kyle Katarn is pretty dang awesome.

Luke Skywalker's part is amazing. But I can never get enough of Han Solo, with the sarcastic wit. I think star wars is better tha star trek!

Han Shot first. Period.

Favorite film moments/lines? The moment Vader picks up the Emperor and takes the bolts into himself (and his bones glow through the armor!). I cheered out loud and almost stood up in the theater opening night when I first saw that (yes, I'm that old). Or the moment Han comes out of the sun behind Vader "You're all clear, kid! Now let's blow this thing and go home!"

The single thing I most missed in Eps 1-3 was a Han Solo, some kind of regular guy who was just himself and yet made a difference. Everybody important was a flippin' Jedi or Sith or Senator or all of the above; everyone else was comic relief or cannon fodder.

Books: The Karen Traviss books were all good, at least all the ones I read. I love Thrawn - it's been too long since I read those. And while Rogue Squadron was nice, Wraith Squadron is 'da bomb.' I think the latter takes my favorite book spot.

Never got into the video games much, though I might get into the upcoming MMO.
JarJar is a disappointment, not comic relief. Cannon fodder might apply, but seriously it's bantha poodoo. Traviss is awesome, regardless of timeline.
