All Shall Fade

Isi felt useless. She put a hand on Rica's belt to keep herself oriented.

 

[Ellesar]

"I'm not exactly certain myself." Rica said as she reached over and gently pulled away the ripped sleeve of her tunic to expose the cut. "But any aid you can offer is welcome."

 

[Quantum X]

"It doesn't look to deep." Howard said to Burn as he glanced at Rica's arm.

((Hope you don't mind me saying that Ellesar.))

"Oh that is wonderful! Thank you both so very much for your help." Isi exclaimed with a sigh of relief. She had been holding her breath, afraid of what damage had really been done to Rica's arm. Although she felt it was not bad, one of her problems was trusting in her 'intuition'. Since she was blind she felt it too easy for her to be wrong and she had taken an oath not to do any harm as a healer.

Burn finally found what he was looking for and stood to approach Rica. Sighing quietly, the Outrider set to work, gently but tightly binding the wound. "You bleed well, friend." Burn murmured with grim sarcasm, voice muffled by his helm and the cloth that hung out from beneath it. "Let us hope the wound was not infected. ... I'd think we'd know by now if there was any poison. How long were you here? Have many died?"

 

[Ellesar]

"I don't know how many have died." Rica replied. "And I arrived shortly after Isi and a band of orcs arrived."

 

[Paladin Dave]

"Psh... right at the opening, then." Burn grumbled. "We shall have a most joyous time sorting out who's left, burying the dead, and consoling the living. By the pit, I hope I find a few Orcs who haven't died yet... 'fraid I've not taken out my frustrations completely."

Isi winced when Rica said she was with the band of Orcs... she certainly didn't MEAN to be with them. Isi remembered the pawing hands, the threats and horrible insinuations the Orcs tormented her with. It had seemed an eternity of horror, yet she wasn't exactly sure how long she had been their prisoner. The heat from the fires had thrown off her usual way to tell time by the heat of the sun on her skin. She heard the shuffling of smaller feet and turned her ear toward them.
"There are others here..." she stated; part question, part observation.

 

[Locket]

The others- Thom and Mary- were not there exactly but close by, picking through the ruins in hopes of finding villagers. Somehow it seemed impertinent and dangerous to call out, so the two drifted from one pile of rubble to the next, gently poking and sifting for life. Many times they left a pile empty-handed, but thankfully those times outweighed those when Mary had to turn away, hand over her mouth, at the sight of an empty, desecrated familiar face. From the still burning thatches they shied, not willing to risk either the injury or the unpleasant memories.

[Paladin Dave]

"Of course there are." Burn said non-chalantly. "We saved a good many villagers from these ravaging filth." The Outrider glanced over his shoulder to see the brother and sister he'd helped earlier, and reported their presence to the blind woman. "The two near us are Mary and Thom, children of Thurgand, I believe. I may have the father's name wrong... but yes, they are of no harm."

"Ah, I understand." Isi bit her lip and frowned. "I do not understand what is happening. According to the stories, these 'Orcs' have not been seen in Rohan for a very long time. What has brought them back to our lands?" Isi asked.

 

[Quantum X]

"That's a very good question." Howard replied. "The orcs should be mostly gone by now..."

((Dave... PM BOX... *sigh*))

Isi waited. Surely the Rohirrim would know something more about why these creatures of legend had stepped back into their world.

 

[Paladin Dave]

((Cleared now. Blaze, I'll respond momentarily))

Burn sneered behind his helmet, glaring back at the orc bodies that littered the village. "I have no idea how or why they've returned, but I mean to find out. If they are making a full-scale return and invasion, then we must be swift in alerting the King and calling in our armies to crush them, before they have a chance to become a threat to all mankind."

Burn knew that in their haste to save the village, many of the Orcs could have been wounded without being killed. While he was not accustomed to such practices, he decided that interrogating a survivor would not only be wise... but a lot of fun, too. "Stay here, if you wish. I'm going to look for surviving Orcs. Mayhap, THEY will know..." the Outrider announced as he began trudging off towards some of the accumulated bodies.

Isi reached out her hand, weaving it up and down hoping to come in contact with Burn. When she didn't she spoke anyway. "I... I had one of them grab my ankle... I... I think it was one of them because they have thick, strong fingers and... claw-like nails." Isi shivered.
