All Shall Fade

[cyberwing]

"Perhaps... well perhaps we can find someone there?" Isi tried to look hopeful but in her heart she was sick.

 

[Ellesar]

"There are bound to be people around here still." Rica said reassuringly.

 

[cyberwing]

'None who want a blind woman around I'm sure...' Isi thought in a moment of pure self pity. She sighed, scolding herself mentally for such weakness and held her hands out. Isi grimaced. "So much evil...such pain and anger... what is happening?" Isi asked softly almost more to herself than anyone else.

 

[Ellesar]

Rica looked around and frowned slightly as she said, "Orcs have ravaged this village..." Anger welled up in her as she looked around, wanting to exact revenge on the orcs, but knowing that it would most likely be fruitless.

 

[cyberwing]

"I just do not understand such hate and evil..." Isi replied quietly, her face a mask of sadness.

 

[Locket]

"And many more will suffer worse than a bump if I, GRAH!" Burn grunted as he urged his mount forward and impaled Thom's assailant on his lance. "If I leave here for ONE of you! My duty is to the greater good! Not the first to ask for my defense!" Burn wheeled his horse about and drove the edge of his shield down on the head of an orc who THOUGHT he was being sneaky. Simultaneously, the horse reared forward and shot a powerful kick into another orc's chest, crushing it's ribcage and leaving it to suffocate on the ground.

"WHAT greater good?!" Still riled past any standard she had ever set before, Mary managed to amputate an orc's arm on sheer adrenaline as she bickered with the not-so-helpful stranger. "My brother may be dying from inner bleeding, my only home has gone up in smoke, and my village is scattered to the wind and you wish for us to consider you a champion of the greater good simply because you enjoy the glory and thrill of victory over actually getting down off your high horse and helping people!" By now, between the man, his horse, Mary's sword, and Ruber, a path was cleared to the still unconscious Thom. Seeing her opening, Mary ran to her brother and dropped her sword as she knelt by his side. "Thom? Thom! Thom, wake up." With her back to the horseman so his view was blocked, she pushed her brother's wide brim straw hat back slightly to check his face for damage from the hilt.

 

[Paladin Dave]

((Before I retort and make Burn look the fool, are the Orcs even here anymore?))

 

[cyberwing]

"Rica... do you see any long sticks that I might use to tap my way along? I hate to burden you so..." Isi asked blushing with embarrassment again.

 

[Ellesar]

"You're no burden to me." Rica said softly. She was quiet for a few moments and then said, "But I'll quickly look if that's what you want."

 

[cyberwing]

"I still hear sounds of fighting ahead..." Isi told Rica worriedly.

 

[Locket]

((Before I retort and make Burn look the fool, are the Orcs even here anymore?))

((Some. It's trickling down, but there are some. I'm planning on having the flow halt quickly soon so Mary can fully check on Thom))

 

[Ellesar]

Rica looked around and said, "There are still some orcs around, but it looks like their numbers are getting smaller." She scanned the ground and spotted a stick a short distance away that could be helpful to Isi and said, "I'll be right back." Trotting over to where the stick was, she scooped it up and then returned to Isi. Handing the stick to the other woman, she asked, "Will this work for you?"

 

[cyberwing]

Isi took it gratefully and it was an awkward length but at this time she could not be too proud. "Thank you Rica." Isi tapped her way next to Rica using the stick to feel obstacles rises and dips in the ground as she walked. Isi still walked a bit slower because of her limitations.

 

[Ellesar]

"Is there anything else I can do to help?" Rica asked softly.

 

[cyberwing]

"You do not have to stay with me... I will only slow you down..." Isi replied.

 

[Ellesar]

"I know that I don't have to...but I choose to." Rica said with a smile.

 

[cyberwing]

Isi sighed. She didn't want Rica to go but she also did not wish to be a burden to the young woman. Isi tapped her way through the fields of bodies, mostly human now some orcs but mostly humans.
"There is too much blood on the air. How many Rica? How many have died? Are there any left alive?" Isi asked, her sightless silver eyes shedding tears.

 

[Ellesar]

"Too many..." Rica said with a frown as she looked around. "I don't see any people directly around us, but there may be some on the other end, and some villagers might have fled when the orcs arrived." I'm hoping some did at least...

 

[cyberwing]

"Are there any homes unburned? Maybe we could find some herbs for you in one of those Rica? I hate to enter another's home but right now we are in a rather bad situation..." Isi replied looking very unhappy. She used her stick to tap around in front of her and always uttered a prayer when her stick encountered the soft flesh of a body. Her silver eyes remained sightlessly staring off into the clouds.

 

[Paladin Dave]

Burn opted to ignore Mary's baseless insults and do what he'd come to do. As she ran for her brother, Burn leveled his lance again and charged into the fray, running down a few Orcs before skewering one that had broken off to try and bull rush Mary. In a few moments, the last of the Orcs had decided to give up on Mary and Thom, and rushed to give one last effort against Burn.

The Rohirrim shook the impaled Orc corpse from his lance, but only in time to stop one Orc. The bestial creature's leg was run through by the lance, but he was still very much alive, and VERY angry. Burn was forced to drop the heavy weapon and body and draw his sword, both mount and rider's eyes going wide as two Orcs drew near and lashed out with their weapons.

Burn's horse got a nasty cut across its chest, but the attacker was quickly repaid when his face was smashed in by the equine's hoof. The second was a bit more intelligent, and ducked around to hit Burn on the side of his sword arm. The two warriors' weapons clashed, and a brief swashbuckling bout ensued as Burn and the Orc tried to slip past the other's blade for a kill.
