It is an increasing believe among Christians that for the christian, Jesus Christ has forgiven all our sins; past, present and future.
My question is, what is the biblical basis or proof that Jesus has forgiven all of our future sins and if so, what is the point of asking for forgiveness for sins.
Scripture speaks of the Past sins:
Whom God hath set forth
to be a
propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for
the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; Romans 3:25
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten
that he was purged from his old sins. 2 Peter 1:9
...and of sins present, if committed, then we are to confess and forsake, otherwise we would have no need of a present advocate before the Father...
If we confess our sins, he
is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and
if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:15
...it does not say "was", it says "is"..., and not "shall" sin, but "if"...
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And
if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 1 John 2:1
...for God has provided amply that we may be overcomers...
...additionally, forgiveness [covering], is not the same as the work of blotting out either...
Repent ye therefore, and be converted,
that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3:19
