Is Earth the only planet God created life on... is it possible there are other civilisations on other planets?
Would aliens be Christians too?
What would it mean to Christians if there was life in other planets?
Are there any hints about this in the Bible.. either way?

The important distinction between life and humanity is " God's image ". There may be endless lifeforms all across the galaxies however, only earth gave birth to the King and He chose man to reveal Himself. Blessings.

The universe is filled with galaxies, solar systems, planets and of course heaven has a lot of Angels.

Yes all aliens not on Earth are saints - they are God's children.

It it great that God has other beings that worship God -- not just Angels and humans.

Yes - Dan 7 myriads and myriads of non-God beings in the courtroom of heaven
In Job 1 there is a meeting in heaven and Satan comes from Earth - but we are not told where everyone else comes from -- presumably "not Earth".

It is a big universe.

I believe there are other creations of God. Even if we just think of angels, they are another type of creation. In heaven there are beasts (living creatures).

Rev 19:4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying, "Amen! Alleluia!"

Around God's throne, are some fairly funky creatures.

Eze 10:14 Each one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, the second face the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

As for aliens in the traditional sense, I believe in the last days that when Satan is cast to earth that he will masquerade as an alien.

Rev 12:9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Rev 13:4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?"

As for "are they Christians", creatures of God, will serve God according to the truth revealed to them. They are not saved in an identical way to man, the following would suggest angels desire to see into what we have in Christ, but some knowledge is denied them.

1Pe 1:12 To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.

Men are saved by Christ, by no other method.

One of the most famous Christian voices to speak on this is Ellen G. White, leader of the Seventh Day Adventists, who spoke of aliens who had never fell (never sinned). Apparently referring to Jupiter, she said, "The inhabitants are a tall, majestic people, so unlike the inhabitants of earth. Sin has never entered here."

Because it was personal revelation, her account does not have the authority of scripture. It's interesting, nonetheless, because it theorizes one possibility, a sinless race of intelligent beings. If they were truly sinless, they would not need to be saved. However, they would be good and could be friends of human people.

The Talmud states that Hashem (God) moves around 18,000 worlds. Although it does not mention there being intelligent life in these worlds, some view it as implied. This is more relevant to Jews than Christians as Christians don't usually give the Talmud credence. But I thought it worth mentioning.

We do not know yet.

is it possible there are other civilisations on other planets?
Sure, if its possible on our planet, its also possible on other planets.

Would aliens be Christians too?
If we believe that Christianity is the religion about the true God, at least in its basic truths, then sure, His other possible created intelligent beings would/could share in this truth.

What would it mean to Christians if there was life in other planets?
An interesting opportunity to share our knowledge and to get their knowledge.

Are there any hints about this in the Bible.. either way?
It really depends on individual interpretation (sons of God and similar). There is no clear verse "God created other worlds with other intelligent physical beings", so the question is still there, waiting for our exploration.

RV: Statement of Purpose - Exploring Christianity Statement of Purpose

This is a forum where non-Christian Seekers are encouraged to ask questions about those aspects of the Christian faith which seem hard to understand or accept, and where Christian members (see Faith groups list) can enter into discussion with them on these questions. The primary focus of this forum is Christian evangelism and discipleship, not to debate Christian Theology or challenge, attack, or argue against, Christianity. If any non-Christian member would like to challenge Christianity, they may do so in the Christian Apologetics forum. Please read and agree with this thread before posting in the Christian Apologetics forum.

We recognize that sincere non-Christian seekers are looking for real answers, and the first reply given may be insufficient to achieve this. It is acceptable for the Original Poster (OP) to probe the answers given, and to continue the discussion on lines which help to clarify their understanding of the Christian faith. If another non-Christian seeker wishes to ask questions about the Christian faith, they may start their own thread. No more than one non-Christian Seeker (the OP) may post in a thread.

Debate

There are some areas of theology in which different Christians may believe differently. In these situations, we would ask Christians to refrain from debating the matter here. You may point out that there is a differing viewpoint, but please do not use this forum to debate with other Christians. If Christians wish to discuss various doctrines with other Christians, they should do so in one of the Theology forums.

All posts must adhere to the Christian Forums sitewide rules.

Is Earth the only planet God created life on...

That we know of.

is it possible there are other civilisations on other planets?

Oh sure. It's very possible.

Would aliens be Christians too?

That would be interesting.

What would it mean to Christians if there was life in other planets?

That the universe is a really big place.

Are there any hints about this in the Bible.. either way?

Nope, the Bible is completely silent on anything like that. In antiquity the idea that there was life south of the equator was considered far-fetched. Though there is at least one example of ancient science fiction, A True Story by Lucian of Samosata, written in the 2nd century, involves visiting the moon, which is inhabited.

But the idea of "extraterrestrial life" is largely an idea of the modern era based on a growing knowledge of the universe in a post-Copernicus world. And the modern genre of science fiction, including the idea of "Martians" or "aliens" really doesn't show up until the 19th and early 20th centuries.

So it's probably unlikely that anyone involved in the writing of the biblical texts would have ever really thought about the subject. Both those who wrote the Old Testament and those who wrote the New would have largely been working from the knowledge-base of their contemporaries; in both cases would have been a geocentric model of the universe (the Ptolemaic model being the chief model at the time of the New Testament), and so the idea of "other worlds"--i.e. that there could be other earths out there--just wasn't part of the way most people thought about the universe. Under the geocentric view, the earth is the center, and celestial bodies orbit around it--the sun, moon, and stars. The planets were viewed as just odd stars, that's where the word "planet" comes from planates astares, "wandering stars". Because they appeared to "wander" in relation to the "normal" stars. The idea that the planets were something other than weird stars wouldn't really show up until Galileo and his telescope.
