My thoughts:

I think that many stories of UFOs and so forth are descriptive of some type of phenomena that actually literally occurs. But I take a Vallee/Keel type approach to it. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of evidence for them being aliens, except our assumptions and sometimes their statements (though it should be noted that these "aliens" do often seem to lie!), and their actions do not seem consistent with what we would expect from aliens. Granted, aliens may be so bizzarre that we would not be able to comprehend their actions, but the ones we see are apparantly close to us in both form and mindset, and yet their actions as a whole don't make sense. They should be nothing like us or be understandable to us, but they exist in some weird area in between that seems to rule out that they are actually aliens. I think that they are just another manifestation of a phenomena that's been on Earth for quite some time. I actually take theories of them being demons or fairies more seriously than the extra terrestrial hypothesis because at least it explains a lot of their actions.

As for life on other planets I usually take a hard stance against it in arguments. My intuition tells me that there could be life out there, but I think that we don't know enough to say one way or another and it makes me mad that so many people act like it is undeniable that life exists out there. Perhaps it is, if we assume every variable. But when you get right down to it we are trying to derive a distribution from one observation, and all you can say is that it is possible that life can form on at least one planet. But it is impossible to say any more than that. Well, I guess we can say that life like us isn't everywhere because we haven't run into yet.

While I tend not to instantly believe stuff that requires enormous leaps of logic to be true, I do recognize that some of the reports of UFO's come from respectable, reputable sources. There is also an idea that UFO's are actually USO's--unidentified submerged objects. Some people who claim to have seen UFO's report that they actually came from a large body of water, and returned there. I actually think that that is plausible. The problem that I think really can't be explained with UFO's is how large crafts could get here fairly regularly without anybody in any of the world's space programs noticing. When I think about the noise that was made many years ago, when that comet hit Jupitor, I have a lot of trouble imagining that "Large object headed towards Earth" wouldn't make headlines in some newspaper, and spread from there.
But, with very few exceptions, we don't watch the bottoms of the oceans, and we know almost nothing about them. One line from a documentary I saw a while ago really stuck in my head. The man was looking at a critter he collected from the sea floor under a micoscope, and said that pretty much anything you find down there is all but guarenteed to be an undiscovered species.

So, I do not actively believe that there are aliens contacting Earth or that there are undiscovered colonies of intelligent life on the ocean floor, but I find the latter to be somewhat more plausible. Or, at least, less impossible.

For the most part, I'm neutral. What is, is, and eventually we will figure out what that is, or not.

Oh, but I do think that there is probably life on other planets.

and who knows what lovely beautiful fantastic creatures are out there?

Maybe, I'm just not that much of an Optimist. I think anyone making first contact with aliens should be very well armed, just in case. You can't tell if they're a peaceful civilization or one that will try to eat us.

what if an alien looks horrible but is very freindly?

what if an alien looks beautiful but is very hostile?

Right, the perfidious Alien Menace.:p

This is why I think a "zap them all and let God sort 'em out" approach to alien relations might not be a bad idea.;)

sure but should it be so obvious? what if they saw those arms as a threat? of course if they were not hostile they might understand why we would be cautious.

that might apply to those cute looking little extra terrestrial bunny rabbits, we know what they are like really.

Poke them with a stick? That'll make 'em feel really welcome!

In the case aliens do show up, what we need to do is copy all their tech really fast. Cause generally when a superior nation (or planet) goes to a more primitive one - and they can talk love and peace all they want - its generally for profit made through trading.

I don't think there are aliens...why would there be? Why would God create an extraterrestrial species? There is us and only us and He loves only us. After all, if there were an alien species, did they have a Jesus goa and save them? Did they have an Adam and Eve? No. God's love is reserved for the human race, because we are the only race.

I don't think there are aliens...why would there be? Why would God create an extraterrestrial species?

Why wouldn't He? The universe is so big that I can't believe that there's not life on at least one other planet. Whether it's intelligent life or not I have no idea, but it certainly could be.

There is us and only us and He loves only us.

How do you know that?

After all, if there were an alien species, did they have a Jesus goa and save them?

While that's a good question, there's no way it can be answer until we encounter another alien race. They may not have a specific analogue of Jesus, but there could be another way in which God displayed His love for them in a way that would have a similar impact to them that the death of Jesus had for us.

Did they have an Adam and Eve?

It depends what you mean by Adam and Eve. If you mean two (or more, depending on whether they have two sexes or not) characters who form part of a story explaining the origins of the race then there's no reason why they couldn't have an Adam and Eve. If you mean two individuals who were the sole progenitors of the race, well we don't have that, so why should they?

No. God's love is reserved for the human race, because we are the only race.

Do you have anything do support this? You could be right, but I don't see how it's possible to make definite statements like this. There's simply no way of knowing.
