Layne Staley= best male vocalist in a rock band

I like Layne Staley, but good lord no. Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, Ronnie James Dio, David Coverdale, Chris Cornell and many many others are better

Alice in Chains is a fantastic band and Dirt is a great album. I still don't understand when I meet people who haven't even heard of them- so yes- they're quite underrated. I don't get it. I've always enjoyed how they harmonize and I adore the minor-key sounds they favor.

My gf only heard them for the first time recently. Her initial reaction was, "Why does that guy sound like he's dying?"

My response was, "Well, honey, it's because he was."
