Alice In Chains anyone??

I really like them...they're a great band. Just wondering what you ppl think of them.

Alice in Chains is a great band, but they matured and grew alot after "Man in the Box" and the Facelift album. I think AiC is hurt by the overplay that "Man in the Box" receives, just as Nirvana is hurt by "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Dirt and Jar of Flies are must haves, however. "Them Bones" is a very intense song, while "No Excuses" has great harmonies and lyrics.

The EPs (Sap, Jar of Flies) and the Unplugged album showcase their versatile musicianship. Dirt is a good CD, but had too many singles that, as stated above, are overplayed. AiC gets better the more one doesn't listen to rock radio.

yes, AiC, Rooster and others. the sure way to avoid overplay: don't write songs in the first place.

alice in chains is so good. layne staley is probably the best singer i've ever heard. i gotta say that i love sad music and alice in chains have some of the most honest and depressing songs.

I don't know what others think, but I actually prefer Cantrell's voice to Staley's.

Actually, I can't stand peanut butter and jelly...it has to be peanut butter and jam, but that is besides the point. Is anyone a fan of Jerry Cantrell's solo work? "Anger Rising" was his biggest hit between his two albums, but in my opinion, "Between" is his best song.

Actually he has 3 albums. Boggy Depot, Degredation Trip, and Degredation Trip Volumes 1&2 (Which is like Degredation Trip and a whole other album's worth of material). It's also very very hard to pick a favorite of his stuff though I tend to prefer his more intense tracks.

Intriguing...I was not aware of Degradation Trip Volume's 1&2...I'll have to check that out.

Man In The Box is extremely overplayed...I actually just heard it a week or two ago, whoa huh? lol... I found it great, and am looking forward to buying some of their albums... Dirt is probably the album that you would want to start off with if you're into their heavier material. If you can justify paying such high prices for EPs, then Jar of Flies is a good investment.

I have the box set, and found it to be a bit much. One might be better off just picking up the albums. None of the older/unreleased material really stood out.
