• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I am feeling terrible today, after several hours I am starting to almost get back to normal. Been having a hangover, nauseous, thirsty, head-ache and bad nerves. I wish I could see it as clearly as now always, that alcohol is just poison that brings nothing good. I saw it yesterday after finishing all my beer, that I didn't feel good at all, and I have certainly not been feeling good today. There is nothing good in it.

It's certainly poison for ww2pigeon and I, and several million -as likely as not tens of millions - in this world; and it sounds like it may be for you.

Also like those three right answers were telling you something.

Try out an AA meeting, just to see what goes on. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I took this approach to it. I simply got sick and tired of being constantly sick and tired from all the alcohol. And my body was starting to send me warning signs that it was time to stop.

If at all possible, don't wait for those warning signs..stop now while you are young. You'll be much better off in the long run.

God Bless.

I used to be there. I used to drink and then be sick, and as soon as I could stomach it, drink again, but it turned into a vicious spiral, one which nearly killed me.

Prayers for you my friend.

Yea it's poison dude...it kills more brain cells than most illegal drugs out there. It wrecks other organs...and does that wonderful thing to you after you drank too much. Beautiful agony right? Such a lovely feeling...you've got a little more than two options: start enjoying the pain, or quit (or drink less, but you'll just end up having to enjoy the pain anyway eventually). If you have to, take pictures of yourself throwing up, with blood shot eyes, get video of yourself talking into the camera explaining how much you hate getting sick after drinking...then, when you want to drink, show yourself those pics and video and don't go to the store.

Alchohol is medically defined as a drug. An addictive drug too... What it does technically is block messages "chemicals" from reaching the receptors of your brain. what happens is since those messages don't get recieved the brain forgets to oxegenate itself. Your brain also gets hooked on the "blockers". You build a psychological complex and are clinically an addict. How much of an addict you are depends. I heard it's an exsess of three beers a week to be an addict by, todays standards. The truth is you can be addicted and not even drink onece a week. Todays psychology says that an addiction is actually just a complex that has not been adressed. The truth is your physical dependance is short lived at most. Alchohol is truly a drug that poisons the soul!;)

Yeah, alcohol is a drug. Some people use too much of it and it can poison them. Others use a bit of it and it settles them down and dilates their arteries. The problem is with people who always seem to drink too much despite their best efforts to moderate or quit. I used to think going to church and praying was the answer. Then I went to AA and learned a thing or two. It wasn't how I thought it was.
