  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey guys

What's your favorite album cover art? Anything particularly memorable?

One of my favorites is "London Calling" by the Clash.

While this isnt "great art there are some of the weirdest/funniest/disturbing CD covers I've EVER SEEN - definitely qualifies as "memorable"

Both are great albums by the way, some of Phish and moe's best.

The Phish cover was chosen like this: they were wondering what to have as the cover of the album, and someone found this old picture laying around, that the bassist, Mike Gordon, had taken of himself. It was just too funny and they had to put it on the cover :D
I have no idea about the story behind that reddish fat guy.....

Alright, after giving it much thought, I have decided that the following are possibly the 2 best album covers out there.
Disagree if youd like... but they are classics.

God Bless :)

Here is a beautiful cover - (not disturbing like the last ones)
It is the cover of Rift, one of my favorite Phish albums:
rift.jpg

Interesting fact: This is just the cover, but the whole CD album art (including back) contains visual references to all the songs on this album.....except for one, "The Horse." When the album came out, phans searched for the Horse on the cover but could not find it. So what did Phish do? Put a big picture of a horse on their next album, Hoist.

sigur ros gets my vote for best album art (all the art running through the CD jacket, not just cover...) both () and the other album, i don't even know what it's called...the one with agaetis byrjun on it. I think () is just an incredibly cool way to layer images and make a very hauntingly beautiful, ephemeral image, even as you flip through the book. And the little alien baby that they use illustrated in the other one is cool and the format of the CD jacket thing is just different and unique. yeah they do it up right.

radiohead has good art that traces through their cd jackets. it's interesting and fun to look at....

mbv's lovesless has a somewhat interesting abstracted image of a guitar in a hallucinatory pink. it's cool.

anytime. i thought it was pretty cool. its kind of like a "wheres waldo?" "slave to the traffic light" is one that really sticks out in the poster. all the other ones, ive had to really think about to find the connection.
