  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"The world as I see it" is a wonderful collection of Einstein's writings.

My all-time favorite quote from Albert is the following -- he just hits the nail square on the head for me:

The more a man is imbued with the ordered regularity of all events the firmer becomes his conviction that there is no room left by the side of this ordered regularity for causes of a different nature. For him neither the rule of human nor the rule of divine will exists as an independent cause of natural events. To be sure, the doctrine of a personal God interfering with natural events could never be refuted [italics his], in the real sense, by science, for this doctrine can always take refuge in those domains in which scientific knowledge has not yet been able to set foot. But I am convinced that such behavior on the part of representatives of religion would not only be unworthy but also fatal. For a doctrine which is to maintain itself not in clear light but only in the dark, will of necessity lose its effect on mankind, with incalculable harm to human progress. In their struggle for the ethical good, teachers of religion must have the stature to give up the doctrine of a personal God, that is, give up that source of fear and hope which in the past placed such vast power in the hands of priests. This is, to be sure, a more difficult but an incomparably more worthy task

...This quote from Einstein appears in "Science, Philosophy, and Religion, A Symposium",published by the Conference on Science, Philosophy and Religion in Their Relation to theDemocratic Way of Life, Inc., New York, 1941.

Really? then how did you know the following..

I was under the impression that "assuming" was a thought process rather than an observable action. I'm also curious how you observed which posts I read and didn't read. Do you have a camera hidden in my house? If so it's faulty since I did read all the posts. Maybe you should send it out for repairs. If you'd care to tell me where it's hidden I'd be happy to make the arrangements.

Amusements aside the real fact is you didn't call me on my actions because you don't know what my actions were. Just like you don't know what my thoughts were, even though you claimed to, and you don't know which posts I read, even though you claimed to.

If you claim to know something when you really don't, isn't that called lieing? When you claim to hav seen something someone did but really saw nothing at all, isn't that false witness? If you are judgeing someone based on information you claim to have but don't, isn't that prejudice?

Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?
"I was under the impression that "assuming" was a thought process rather than an observable action."

*sigh* you dont' even read what YOU'RE writing do you? It was clear from your first post you assumed it was a christian talking about how everyone attacks christians (your words) and didn't read me questioning this conclusion in the OP. You then went on to rant about christians always saying they are under attack.

"I'm also curious how you observed which posts I read and didn't read."

Openning post- "albert hates christians"

Me- " no he doesn't, prove that"

You-" (in reference to the OP) man christians are always saying they are under attack, blah blah blah.."

conclusion: You either didn't understand what I wrote, or didn't read anything at all. So stop being prejustied and you can join me in asking for proof to this claim.

Nope, not on this board. The kids at my church usually pose harder questions, or situations.
really?! the kids are your church ask you to define de Sitter space? oh.. are you meaning to indicate Theological questions? if so, that would seem to be highly suspect as there are many learned individuals here that have posed some very thought provoking questions... wouldn't you agree?
