  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

AHHHHH! Nearly There...HELP!!!! ACK!

So, the past 36 weeks have been fun and all...BUT, IT'S NEARLY TIME  Yes, this post is mainly constructed with hormones and sleep deprivation...but still!!!!

Mark (who you may know as Alidar Jarok from round the parts of CF) and I will be having our first son, Lucas, in a matter of weeks...

We're not ready. Now, don't get me wrong, I love kids, yada-yada, and don't think I will mess him up TOO severely, but we don't even have all the things we need for him. Due to financial crisis and shortcomings, we have some things, but are still lacking some of the bare basics. Top that with my anxiety and I'm about ripping out hair.

Terrified about labor. Terrfied about messing up our baby in one form or another (so long as he doesn't associate with most of either of our families, a huge chunk of possibility for corruption is erased). Terrified about still getting what we need...JUST TERRIFIED

I hate hospitals. I ESPECIALLY hate hospitals when I'm going to be in pain, and probably not very nice to my husband so he will get to deal with the unpleasantries, though I know he'll be as polite and wonderful as he always is...I love pets, I have many, but bringing them home from the pet store, all nice and fluffy in a little box and smacking them into a cage with a bowl of water is a LOT more simplistic than the earth shattering "here is your one chance to make a human right...muwahaha!" *Slight hyperventilation occurring randomly, please excuse...*

I need to cry. This is pathetic. I do NOT understand how guinea pigs reproduce so many times.

Help...help...HELP!!!!!

You guys sound like a lovely couple. Congratulations on your pregnancy and your upcoming arrival! My husband and I are also pregnant and on Wednesday we will 38 weeks. We are certainly feeling anxious also as this is our first baby. We will make it through because we are blessed to have these wonderful, supportive husbands to help us. It is very scary to think of what is coming, but just think of all the women that have done it and approx 70% of them come back to do it again, so we can do it! God bless you and I am praying for you

Babies need very little. Like Leanna said you need a carseat. Then other than that they need some weather appropriate clothes and diapers and breast feed the baby (free!). Nothing else is NECESSARY. So if you have those basics quit worrying about whatever else you may not have. You can buy those convenience items if you decide you want them when finances become available.

Thank you all.

Carseat is being provided, new, by the hospital, as well as some other things. We do have "some" things for him, but overall, I'm just completely freaking out.

The past 36 weeks have been great and all, but now that the time is THIS close, I'm just freaking out. Husband, yes, VERY supportive, but still, freaking out nonetheless :sorry:

I understand, I have been that way too. I don't even know why. This is number 5 for me. But I don't have anything ready, and dh has the kitchen half torn apart, and the worst things I can't seem to get my brain to work enough so I can think of what I do need to get ready.

I know the baby can sleep with us, so i am not worried about the crib, my others had a crib and still slept with us, but I like to get it ready. But I have no idea where to put it. Then there is clothes. I have no idea weather it is a boy or a girl so all I washed was some onesies and some sleepers. I figure once I know what it is I will drag the rest out but, that seems like I should be doing more so as not to have to do that after but what?

So basically we have one package of diapers, one package of wet wipes, some sleepers, and some blankets and a car seat ready. I sure hope dh won't change his mind about taking some days off and helping me get the other clothes out and more diapers once the baby gets here.

I'm freaking out too. My C-section is scheduled on Friday. I have less than six days. Plus, I've been on bedrest for months so I feel like my house is all out of order.

I keep thinking to myself about how I felt when I held my brother's baby in the hospital a couple of months ago. I can't believe they just let people take those little, vulnerable and fragile things home. The dumb thing is I know what to do with my nieces. I have babysat over night a million times...somehow though when I think of my own I just freak a little bit.

We'll be fine. think of all the people out there who have been first-time parents and managed. It will work itself out.

Good luck with the baby, Stacii :)

I want to delay this. Yes, I know, I'm paddling upstream against the masses who wish to 'get it over' but I'm really hoping to prevent this as long as possible.

Besides, extra ripened things are always good :)

LOL That's good. At least you won't be one of those first time moms who complain when their due date comes and goes that they're "late" :D I'm sure you're hoping that you'll go at least the average 41+ plus weeks for a first baby :D

^As am I :) I'm in no hurry. I feel like a turtle on it's back, but the hump is on the top most of the time, so I figure I might as well just ride it out and wait before the whole "parenting" thing comes.
