  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Scientists have a way of rigging votes (Pluto), having pictures drawn (Haeckel), or appealing to the Antichrist Lovers Union to push their agendas (Scopes).

Some will downright tell you what you want to hear (L'Auila), bribe authorities to have safety checks waived (Deepwater Horizon), fake test results (Thalidomide), or change nomenclature ("fetus") to their advantage.
Flint, Michigan pretty well sums it all up. If that sort of corruption went on in China heads would roll. Of course everyone blames someone else.

You seem to "hear" a lot of things, don't you?
That is just a figure of speak. It means I read it on the internet at one time but I can not locate it right now. It was a interesting story and the difference in age is only two or three years. Not all that significant. I am just saying even though they have a birth certificate that still is not 100% conclusive.

The pollution produced at rare earth metal mines in China are 100 times worse than Flint, and no heads are rolling. In fact, the Chinese government enthusiastically supports these mines even as they poison the population.

Am I missing something somewhere? What does a mine have to do with contaminated public drinking water of a major municipality? China halted imports of U.S. beef in 2003 after a case of mad cow.

Although maybe your right, corruption is corruption where ever you go. Be it Russia, China or the United States.

Sometimes I wonder if multiple people use your login. It seems that you forget what you wrote just a few posts ago.

You wrote that, did you not?

I was using the example of the Chinese rare earth mineral mines where the pollution is so bad that they can't even grow crops in the ground anymore. No Chinese heads have rolled, and the corruption is obvious.

It appears, he types whatever pops into his head at the moment.

Scientists do not benefit from people getting lead poisoning. Politicians get a short term benefit of not having to pay for proper plumbing or a less acidic water source. True, politicians have been known to pay off scientists to make them say that they agree with them, but there are too many scientists in each given field to even pay off a majority, and plenty of people will refuse bribes on principle. The people in charge of maintaining the water system could have simply ignored the concerns of the people testing the water, or not paid anyone to test it in the first place.

You thought she had a sister, when she didn't. And nothing is ever 100% conclusive in science, that doesn't mean you should jump on the fringe ideas that have an even less likely chance of being right.

The point is that three people have been charged.

and quote from that:
"Busch, a district water supervisor for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, and Prysby, a district water engineer, each face six charges.
Accusations include misleading federal regulatory officials, manipulating water sampling and tampering with reports.
Glasgow, a former laboratory and water quality supervisor who now serves as the city's utilities administrator, is accused of tampering with a lead report. He is charged with tampering with evidence, a felony, and willful neglect of duty, a misdemeanor."
Two of these people are politicians that supervise utilities, and one is in the employ of one of the other two.
