Age of Empires II Issues

Yeah, yeah, I know, it's an old game. I remember playing it several years ago and really enjoying it. Now I'm not--and the simple reason is that I can't find a way to control the military units. What I want is for them to for example patrol or hold a position without wandering after every enemy unit that comes along. So if anyone does still have a manual or some knowledge of the game I'd be very grateful if they could give me a hand, help me either know where to download a patch or access commands.

I'm more than sure there are buttons on the HUD for both Patrol and Stand Ground in AoE2. Without having the game playing in front of me, I can't tell you where they are, all I can say is stick tooltips on so you can be sure of what each button does.

Edit: Ok, I just noticed this thread is 2 months old, so I really hope you've found two HUD buttons by now
