Art is about trust.
A trust that the artist has embedded - even concealed - something of their world in their creation. That something of the essence of their Being has been thrust outwards.
A trust that you, the viewer, have the power to discover and share in their world by meditating on their creation, down to the most subtle details.
There’s a trust that if you invest deeply in trying to understand an artist’s creation, you’ll find something hidden about their soul, their obsessions, and the meaning that they are striving to understand and capture.
There’s a trust that if you try to reconstruct and enter into their world from the mere fragments that you are presented with, that if you uncover what appear to be little paths into their consciousness, that you are not crazy, or imagining things, or wasting your time.
That you are not a schizophrenic who is unable to escape your own projections. That connection is possible.
There’s an intimacy there. The artist becomes open, and extends an invitation. You, the viewer, accept.
