you mentioned the word "we" by now you shouls know I hate generalizations like that. I Live the Sabbath by the Bible standerds. I know there are people that take it to far and if so, better to take it to far, then not far enough!
Those parents that don't let their kids play outside are trying to teach them about "resting on the Sabbath"
These examples you have given aren't really restrictions, they are opinions of people and their views on the Sabbath. Like I said better to take it too far then not far enough.
I disagree. It's just as bad to take it too far as it is to not take it far enough--maybe even worse. We shouldn't become Pharisees in our Sabbath restrictions (as many Adventists are). If parents make the Sabbath such a burden that their kids can't have any fun, then not only are they taking it too far, but also they are driving their kids away from the church and giving them a false understanding of what God wants from them. Legalism is no better than licentiousness. Both distort God's character and deny His grace.
