After Paladino's Racist Remarks, Buffalo School Board Demands He Resign
The Buffalo Board of Education on Thursday demanded that Carl Paladino resign from his post on the board after making racist comments about President and Michelle Obama last week. If he refuses to step down, the board will ask the state education commissioner to remove him, it said in a resolution.

The resolution — read aloud in a raucous room that exploded in applause when Mr. Paladino's critics spoke, and in jeers at a board member who called for forgiveness and an apology — passed, 6 to 2. Mr. Paladino was not present.

He's refusing. The deplorable Mr. Paladino says it's not really racist since it was meant to be private, amongst his own kind only. It was sent in error - he really meant to forward his answers.

Here is Mr. Palidino's explanation and self-defense against this unfair media attack.

And here is the original article of questions and answers from Art Voice. Read the original and decide for yourself if this was just "a little deprecating humor" as he claims, overt racism or both.

The questions were:
1. What would you most like to happen in 2017?
2. What would you like to see go away in 2017?
3. Who would you like to see run for mayor of Buffalo in next year's election?
4. Should the new $50 million Amtrak station be at Central Terminal or Canal Side?

Oh man, put in the context of all the other responses, it's even more amazing.

Heh...

Maybe he actually meant what he said. Stop trying to put words in someone else's mouth in order to paint someone as a racist. It's a sad tactic and is getting old and worn out.

In a lengthy statement issued earlier this week, Mr. Paladino apologized to the “minority community” and said that his comments, written to “vent and write deprecating humor about a bad president,” were not intended for the public. He said he meant to send them to friends, but he hit “reply” instead of “forward.”
Here's what gets me, even if #2 wasn't as obviously racist as it is he should still step down. He's a member of the local government (well I would consider a school board member as such anyway) and thus is held to a higher standard than other people.

The fact he thought it was a good idea to say these things shows a lack of good decision making skills and yeah... dude should definitely step down.

Also, I wonder if the potshot he took at his fellow school board members has anything to do with how the vote went? ^_^
