Not really because vouchers do not cover the entire cost of private school, so it is still an issue.

HELP I am Confused!!!!

Okay and also the only reason I started this thread was to set the record straight on Colin Powell and Condileeza Rice's postion on AA. I would have posted their quotes there but the thread was closed.

Well, judging by my post and his disagreeance, it seems he feels prejudice in the workplace is ramapant. I disagree, or rather, I want him to provide proof instead of giving me a 'smart' response.

Yeah I found your post...wooo. maytbe it's the hour!!

Race will always be an issue, not sure how we will ever get around that. Of course you have never been a witness, it is not a blatant thing any longer, but I am sure it happens.

Is it a big issue, I don't know the answer to that question.

Yes, that's the question I wonder if there will ever be an answer to.

I have looked into it. I have found some Fed. funds for low income that I am in the process of aplying for. However honor scholorships are very few, and are pretty much immposible to find that do not require a high school transcript, and letters of recommendation from school staff ect... Like I said before, it would be a lot easier if I was a racial minority. I have looked into that. I even checked the family tree, but I am all white all five generations that I have records of.
Anyways, I am not worried. I am praying, and God has always helped our family when we have come up short.

Never meant to be a smart..... and never used the word 'rampant' however, yes workplace discrimination still does exist, as well in other sectors of society. If discrimination means this:

Main Entry: dis·crim·i·na·tion

Pronunciation: dis-"kri-m&-'nA-sh&n
Function: noun
1 a : the act of discriminating b : the process by which two stimuli differing in some aspect are responded to differently
2 : the quality or power of finely distinguishing
3 a : the act, practice, or an instance of discriminating categorically rather than individually b : prejudiced or prejudicial outlook, action, or treatment <racial

I have on MANY occasions experienced this, and witnessed on other occasions the same for others. What kind of 'facts' are you looking for?

just on the fly this is from the Federal EEOC:

http://www.eeoc.gov/origin/lit_examples.html

How about this sociology piece:

"WASHINGTON, DC—In recent years, political and legal debates have focused on whether reverse discrimination favoring African Americans is justified. What the debates neglect to address is the fact that employment discrimination against African Americans, though illegal, is "alive and well" in America, according to University of Illinois-Chicago researcher Cedric Herring, Ph.D.

Current patterns of discrimination in the workplace—as well as what can be done to amend such practices—are explored by Herring, a sociology professor, in the summer 2002 edition of Contexts magazine, the newest journal of the American Sociological Association (ASA). "Racial discrimination in employment is still widespread; it has just gone underground and become more sophisticated," says Herring, in his article, titled "Is Job Discrimination Dead?" The Washington, DC, Fair Employment Practices Commission found blacks face discrimination in one out of every five job interviews. Today employers use different phases of the hiring process to discriminate against minorities (e.g., recruiting from primarily white schools instead of through job training programs) and offer higher status jobs and pay to white employees. Reports of job discrimination against African Americans are correlated with darker complexion, higher education, immigrant status, and young age."

http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2002-06/asa-ijd061802.php

How about this:

http://www.workplacefairness.org/courtcases.php

I do remember the FBI case. The Texaco case. The Denny's case.....

I'm sure on a database like ProQuest which I don't have access to at home, there are a myriad of factual examples to indicate indeed it still does exist.

Tell me jameseb, surely you don't believe racial discrimination went the way of the doo-doo bird do you?

Are you sure? Perhaps you should look again at your post where you mock my reply to Roc.

For the most part, yes, I do believe that... and I'm sure it isn't hard to Google up sites claiming that its still rampant in this country.
