I am a mom of five children. My oldest son is currently in a Christian High School. He attended a Christian Grade School, as has trouble in school since 5th grade. His grades went from B's to C's to D's to now being on academic probation. He is tutoring, the school is working with him, and we are trying our best to be helpful parents, but seem to be getting nowhere. He was diagnosed with ADD, however, each time we attempted medications, he became so lethargic and unhappy, we do not currently have him on any. There is a lot more to that part of the story. Where my concern lies, is we are possibly facing the fact that he cannot continue his education at the school he attends. and we unfortunately live in a school district which we do not care for the public school. Ideally, I would like to find a homeschooling program to do with him. He is currently in 10th grade, but because of his failing grades there are a lot of courses he needs to retake. I would like to spend next school year working with him at home so that hopefully he can catch up AND be able to re-enter as a senior in the 2008-2009 school year. I need advise....is this something that can be done this late in his schooling, and what programs are best for a child like this. I REALLY need some advise from someone who is or has homeschooled a highschooler and/or has a child with ADD (there are no signs of the HD part of the illness). Help!!!!!!!!!!!

:wave:Welcome to CF! There's something for everyone here. It's an amazing, complex place.

I'm not sure how to answer your question. But you might post it in the Parenting forum, and see if some of them have experience that might help. Or maybe check out the Teaching forum. They might have some insight for you. I'm sure they see ADD kids all the time.

Something that helped me a LOT when I joined was to go to my Control Panel at the top of the page, and go to Edit Options. About three screens down you'll see some options to add titles and URLs for the "Custom Navbar". As you find forums on CF that you want to participate in, put their URL as one of your custom navbar URLs. That way, it will show up on the top of your screen each time you visit, and will act as a quick shortcut to the forums you visit the most.

I look forward to getting to know you as you post in the community!

Im not an expert but I went through similar things in highschool. I got to the point where school did not interest me any more or I felt like I was running in circles. Many people think medication helps with ADD but my brother has ADD and medication never helped him. His grades went from Cs and Ds to A and B when he felt like he could accomplish his goals but that didnt happen until he changed schools. Same with me. Senior year I changed schools and it helped.

Welcome to CF! You'll find help here but not necessarily on this particular thread as this one is usually for intro's and greetings.

Go to Christian Forums at the left top of the page and then scroll down to sub-forums. Searching there you should find a forum for parenting and there is also one just for "homeschooling." And share what you have here there or else just copy and paste your post here there.

Peace and blessings
