  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

well.... get a note to her.... make sure she reads it somehow. she doesnt need to vocalize anything... God - Jesus knows what she is believing in her heart. just have it say some thing like ... please believe that Jesus died for your sins... and please accept him into your heart.

Didymus,

I remember a story of a surgeon struggling with a similiar issue.

The man had lung cancer and was coughing up blood.  His days were short.  The doctor wrestled with how to approach the man and share Jesus and the message of salvation.

The doctor of coursed submitted his request to the Lord.  The next day, the doctor had it in his mind to take a brochure and to share with the man the gospel.  Upon entering the room with his rehearsed plan in mind he found the man sobbing.  The doctor asked the man "why are you crying?"  The man replied "My whole life has been a failure, two failed marriages, drinking, smoking I hate myself.  How could God possibly love me?"  The doctor's rehearsed plan went out the window and he began sharing the gospel with the man.  The man accepted Christ with the help of the doctor.  The man later went home to be with the Lord.

The point of the story is we do not lay the foundation, or even the way to another persons salvation.  That is the job of the Holy Spirit.  Merely asking God to bring someone into salvation is enough to set the Holy Spirit to quick work.  In the story this is what happened and does happen.  God used the doctor to lead the man to Christ.  We only need to be ready and able.  God will even provide the right words for the situation.

Another thing is even if no one is available, it is in all of us in our hearts that there is a God.  It is enough for the Holy Spirit to work with because if the persons heart is right to accept Christ, the Holy Spirit will help the person to pray or pray on there behalf.  Once the heart says yes, the Holy Spirit grabs them.  They belong to God then.
