Advice on Tadpoles?

My children and I brought home two tadpoles the other day. We're housing them in a 7 gallon aquarium with filtration. They're pretty small, no legs yet. They've ignored the bugs in the water, and we've tried feeding them different foods - frozen baby brine shrimp, freeze dried blood worms, fish flakes, sinking algae wafers... they like they algae wafers best. At what point will they turn more carnivorous? Any other feeding suggestions? Also, at what point should I make dry land accessible to them?

Thanks for the links moonkitty. The tadpoles seem to be doing well on algae wafers. They're very quickly developing hind legs. I'll keep offering them "meat". At the rate they're growing and developing it won't be long before they'll need it.

idk how big they are, but you can always try baby crickets. Go to a baitstore and ask for pinhead crickets and they'll give you some. Just toss them in.

Well, it didn't take long for our tadpoles to turn into frogs - only two weeks. We returned the last one to the pond this morning, a frog with just a stub of a tail. Thanks for the help. In the end, the only thing they ate for me were the algae wafers. If they ever turned carnivorous it was only at the very end, because I never saw them eat anything else I offered.
