  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I wasn't sure where else to post this so I'm hoping that somebody here can help.

I'm considering buying a digital camcorder but know absolutely nothing about them. Can anybody tell me what I need to look for?

I want a camera for personal use, yes. I want to be able to load the video to my computer for editing without losing the quality. And I would like better quality than I have with my present camcorder.

I really don't think that I'm interested in a camera which records to a dvd. I'm not sure why but would like to hear the pros and cons.

I really don't care about still shots because I have a decent digital camera.

Well, I think the standard would still be Mini DV. I wouldn't go for a Digital 8 camera, mainly because I've got one and it's time has passed. The Mini DV are generally pretty good quality. If you go to Best Buy or whatever, I'd just ask them more about what they have available. Most are pretty generic...

I'm not sure how much details you want but I could also fill you in on what best to have for your computer in order to get the better quality, and all that :) Just not sure how versed you are with computer specs :D Lemme know!

kelemi, thanks! All I know about the computer is just what I've learned by using one but anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated and will better equip me to know what to ask a salesperson.
