Adventists - What do you think about ex-Adventists?

I've been studying the Bible just a little over two years. And none of the things you mentioned that apply to me do, other than growing up in a secular home that believed in God but did not activly seek Him out. I didn't start attending a church regularly until I got out of jail.

Then I backslid for about a year and a half.

Then I found the Sabbath and then I found the Adventist church.

I am glad you found the L-rd. Remember that is the most important thing. You found Him in the Adventist Church and you keep Shabbat BECAUSE of Him.

The Chanukkah story is found in the Apocrypha in the 1st and 2nd books of Maccabees. Although these books are NOT canon, they ARE considered hsitorically accurate and they show how Antiochus Epiphanes IV INDEED was the little horn.

He violently persecuted the Jewish people, forbade them to worship G-d and worship on Shabbat or have the Torah. He erected an altar to the false Greek god Zeus in the Sanctuary in the Temple in Jerusalem and SACRIFICED PORK TO IT!

Judah Maccabees and his followers overthrew Antiochus Epiphanes IV and cleansed the Sanctuary of the HORRIBLE filth the Selucid Greeks had polluted it with.

Actually, that's not entirely true or what I said. I found the Lord outside of the Adventist church.

OntheDL, you know as well as I do that "at the time of the end" doesn't mean just 100% exactly what it implies! You gotta improvise man!

Any Jew worth his salt is going to argue that means the "end of the vision" not what it actually says.

In regard to the interpretation of the vision by Gabriel, no, I haven't heard another explanation on "the time of the end" that was worth a salt.

Whoa-wait-a-hold-it! Didn't you just say back in an earlier post that your church ONLY studies from the BIBLE ALONE? Were you not criticizing your former SDA church for reading from EGW. And now you say you are getting your theology from a non-cannanical book? Especially one with such questionable origin's? Hmm--pardon me but this sounds very disingenuous to me.

Could you show me what prophecy talks about pigs being sacrificed in the temple please?

It's ok for you to give a candid answer on this just don't be afraid to speak your minds.

I find the question limiting. Once we are a part of any community, it is a part of us. There is no "ex" – only ongoing choices about our efforts and focus.

And the reason for ur backslide is just Chapter 28 of Great contoversy? Im sorry to tell u that ur knowledge in Adventism is lacking. Im not saying i know evrything in adventism but i know whatever question i will ask or doubts, i can have answer not contradict to the bible.

So i cant help thinking that the more reason for u being an ex adventist is personal. hope u can weigh this things. I know u been a good adventist b4. You will not be here if you werent.

I know my interpretation, the fulfillment of Daniel 8:13-14 is found in the Chanukkah story.

Antiochus Epiphanes IV WAS the "little horn".

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Yes, the members of my former SDA church were mostly Filipino immigrants, before that I was in an Indonesian SDA Church(my wife is Indonesian). Wonderful people and I am still friends with them.

They did teach the IJ and Great Controvery theology and the Inspiration of Ellen White ALL of which I disagree with.

I became an Adventist primarily to make my wife happy. I come from a non-Christian religious background and after I was married 1 year I decided I wanted to become a Christian but I wanted to be a Baptist, not an SDA. I had been going to SDA Church with my wife and did not like it.

My reasons for leaving are purely theological and nothing personal. I dearly love the people at my former SDA church and we are still on friendly terms.

I am much happier as a Messianic.

You have to remember my brother that just because something is not to your particular liking or you disagree with it doesnt make it untrue. Noah preached to the people the truth and they didnt like or agree with what he said and the evidence to be seen and logic to judge by was on their side. But at the flood, they wished with all their heart they had listened and accepted the truth that God had given Noah........

Happier and at peace? I think u are just selfish. God said to make Him as your first priority. Seek ye first the kingdom of God not your own happiness 1st.

And about IJ, try to open your heart and let God be your 1st priority, Youll see the difference.

And how do you know he doesn't put God as his first priority? He studied it out himself! This is the problem with Adventism. We converge upon our own denomination so much that we basically refuse to listen to new ideas and facts.
