  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have come across a lot of Adventist and Christians that feel that even the mudane of purchasing a car or house is the Lords 'resposibility' and they dont have to do anything or even be informed or careful when they make a big purchase or long term investment.

Well, my granny always said "The Lord takes care of those that take care of themselves" and that always seemed to be good advice. Too many times I have seen a brother or sister get into debt, make a bad purchase, go into foreclosure, or lose a lot of money in a terrible investment or home buy, then turn around and say "Its the Lords will".

No, I dont think it was what He wanted for us or that this was the case, it most likely was just a careless buyer or unfocused Christian or Adventist brother or sister, who shifts the blame from their bad decisions on the Lord, and that just doesnt seem right.

We need to be informed and learn or have someone that can do negotiations or can give advice on a particular approach? Most first time buyers or purchasers of big ticket item know little or learn little from their few experiences and yet they get no help or advice from others that might have more experience or know the business in detail.

Have you ever helped anyone in such a case, do you feel that is part of helping a fellow Adventist brother or sister. Can you be the part that is a instrument in Gods hands to help another. Do you share that kind of knowledge for a brother or sister that needs help, isnt that even better than sharing a extra coat or old shoes with another. It may save them enough so they can buy their own or even so they can share with others so that they can be helped. Do you have knowledge to help others in these areas or do you have a successful strategy in Pricing, Comparing, Buying that you'd like to share?
